yup, what Kelli said :)

Like I say, a fix that specifically disallows returning positional info for avatars who are not nearby is now awaiting rollout to a sim near you!

The function itself is a good one that promotes less laggy scripts to do all sorts of things completely unrelated to avatar tracking. This was an unfortunate loophole in it.

I had this happen recently... I was out shopping and some semi-newbie started in with the "wanna F@(&". I told him no and moved off.. He persisted, so I TP'd out.. Poof there he is again, telling me how great he is.. I TP'd again, and within seconds he was next to me again continuing with his begging for sex.. Me being me, I had enough.

So I TP'd again, did a quick change into my "Selene" outfit.... psi-tek, Sinistar pistols, black leather.. *smiles*.. As soon as he appeared, I TP'd again, this time to my favorite combat sim... Shields up weapons out... Cage, shoot, kill.. The fool comes back. So cage, incinerate, orbit..

Fool comes back mad now. Tries to shoot me with his newbie gun.. Bullets bounce of my shields, Me... Shoot, kill him again... Again he comes back... Say he will AR me for killing him.. I point out that we are in a combat sim, and kill him again..

That was the last time I saw or heard from him.. Slow learner, but he did eventually figure out that I was not going to have sex with him..

Not the method for everyone I guess, but I must admitt I did have some satisfaction over killing him repeatedly..

Not very ladylike, but then I never made any claims to be.. I learned to shoot before I had my first kiss.. *smiles* Growing up in the "country" has some advantages..

LMAO, sounds like fun. Hang around a free sex place until some guy hits on you; offer to TP them to your place for some fun; TP them to a combat sim and blow them away.

I believe it's similar to the way, when you TP somewhere, anything that was just being said when you departed follows you to the new location, and you still hear it.

Not sure if this is how its done, but looking at the description of the llGetObjectDetails function:

"If id represents an agent, this function will continue to return information for approximately 45 seconds after they have left the sim (but the information is not updated)."

So assuming it has your UUID (which isn't hard to determine) a script *NOT* on your avatar can return details on you for those 45 seconds. The details available on an avatar are Position, Velocity and Rotation.

So you're saying that the tracker has to been in the same sim as the trackee to start with? So like Tracker couldn't just run that script on Trackee from anywhere on the grid, or could s/he?

I think the way this one works Oryx, is they do have to be in the same sim as you. So if you tp and they follow, they could chain you. But if you tp then do another couple quick hops, you have lost them.

The script asks the sim it's in where you are. When you teleport away, you actually stay connected to the sim for a short while, so it still knows where you are. Once patched, the sim will ask itself whether the script should know or not.

Another thing, I noticed "Find on Map" works sometimes, especially under certain conditions, but never consistently from what I can tell yet.

This morning my hubby was someplace that doesn't need to be named *wink* and some guy bumped into him. He was immediately frozen and the only thing that would stop it was signing off and back on.

Just now, we were somewhere else, and a guy was sitting very close to us. My hubby again got frozen. I TP'd him to where I was and we continued walking. The guy then came from up behind me, and *I* got frozen, but I was able to TP home and be fine.

Both men had dark purple skin, but it wasn't the same guy in both places. Are there griefing tools that allow you to freeze someone?

Also, a friend of mine noticed one night while she was world hopping that the same guy kept showing up where she was. We've since discovered that there are "spy" tools sold that allow you to track someone no matter where they go. I can't think of any good reason for such a tool, so why do these things get to exist, other than to cause someone grief??

In the case of the spytool, is there some way of either protecting yourself from being tracked in the first place, or to find out if someone is attempting to track you?

There are a number of products that create invisible traps. Gkill Hud for instance has a function called Gninja that creates one. If you do get trapped, show hidden (ctrl alt T) and you'll see the trap. Right click it and edit it and you'll see the owner. You should report them.

As to TP tracking, I use it quite a lot. I work as a PI in SL, and need it to be able to follow an Av from sim to sim. However, it is not an exact science. There are a couple of ways to break your TP trail. The best is to find a sim that is completely no script (if the sim is only partially no script, the follower can stand in the script enabled part and pick up your trail). When you then TP out of there, they won't be able to follow. The second way is to cross over a sim border and then immediately TP. TP trackers only work if the follower is in the same sim.
