This is a shape bug that cause you to get shorter, get a slightly bigger head and barely no torso muscles. So, it's your avatar, fully rezzed, but an uglier version. Rebaking textures or going in and out of apparence mode will not fix it like for example the "ruthed" bug.

I'm already quite short, an egg head and have no torso muscles to speak of.

Does this mean I'm immune?

I've ran multiple clients with me and my alt at the same time. They always appear normal on each others' screens.

I hear a rumour though that LL are planning on making everyone's avatar look like their real life selves; you will have to send digital full body photographs to them from several angles so they can render you.

I know it! I know it! I've seen these little shape bugs since I've joined. It's very random.

I heard it was auctually up to 17.8% on 14.32% of the population, 43% of the time they went within 10m of another AV.\

I'm adding to that rumour that the photographs have to be naked, and poster sized.

Yep, I've seen & experienced this too.

It is a particularily nasty little bug ~ and most people are far too polite to tell you that you look like an ugly troll on *their* viewer!

This bug got a lot of votes and comments on Jira, SL's official bugsite.

Btw, Lindens has now tried to remove it from the top list of SL bugs by changing it tags and closing it even they admit it is not yet resolved! How's that for propaganda? Read their comments for yourself on Jira. ;)

It seems to me they are aware how severe this bug is and they do not want the broader SL public to know about it. It is still a somewhat unknown bug since the graphic issues only happens on other ppl's screens while you look fine on yours.

The original bug reporter has apparently gone against Lindens shut down and reopened the bug -again-, so please go there and vote and protest about closing the SL users ability to vote on it. ;)

Actually, it was closed because every additional bug report adds more things to think about and slows down work on everything else.

As Torley explained in the comments on the bug report, the developers are aware of the bug and *are* working on it. However, it's covered by another, larger issue, and so this issue was closed because this issue itself doesn't need to be considered separately from the larger issue. All that reopening this bug does is add to the number of open issues out there, thereby hiding other things that are probably worthy of consideration.

This isn't an issue of obfuscation. The general public doesn't spend a lot of time reading through the public JIRA! This is an issue of managing workflow and keeping track of what issues are being handled and what issues are new things that require thought. Before becoming outraged, please read what Torley wrote, and understand that if the bug is part of a large issue that *is* being worked on, reopening it is similar to "crying wolf" in that it doesn't actually help the issue, and only makes all of the other open bugs slightly less visible.
