Wow! SL is just like RL now...no customer service and no common courtesy. Oh wait, we haven't outsourced customer service yet to other countries so not quite like RL yet. There seems to be no please and thank you anymore. Being a creator/business owner, in both RL and SL is thankless. You can't please everyone so stop trying.

Don't allow yourself to be sucked into the negativity of others. Maybe they had a bad day? Maybe non-delivery of your item was one of many complications and they unfortunately took it out on you. Maybe their parents didn't teach them any manners? Maybe they are just idiots? It doesn't matter; what does matter is that you handle the situation with personal integrity that makes you true to your principles. If you are true to you and your ideals, then nothing else really matters. Do unto others as you would like done unto you.

And, after you do the right thing for your customer, keeping to your principles, then go out and rant to get it out of your systems just don't let the negativity of another person be made personal. And not sure who said it earlier, yeah write them into a story and see how many ways you can kill them...over and over and over again! It can be so gratifying! LOL

Spot on Craig. I have a no abuse policy lmao. 'Glad to help you out until you start being and XXXhole.' I get a lot of IMs from people who can't read directions. Using a giftcard system as a marketing tool, I encounter someone EVERY day who just doesn't get --Wear and Right Click and don't Cam shop while using it.

I have instructions in the vendor that auto pop, I have instructions in the card that you can access by clickin, every notice I send has a blurb, basic instructions are in my profile, plus I put greeter scripts all over the store with 'tips.' -- I give away cards in prims that say Open Me and subsequently find someone wearing the prim on their head at least once a week -- I got accused of giving away fake giftcards in my lucky chairs to draw traffic. All while this is happening, there are card transactions firing off every couple of minutes while I am listening to this lmao.

Gotta love retail ;)

CC

heh I get folks who do not understand how to use the card, and none of them are asshats, they just do not understand, so I take the time to explain it, and offer to assist further if they still need help, and lo and behold it works for them

they are happy, I am happy
all is good

I just do not understand why some folks feel the need to be rude, and also why some store owners feel the need to be rude back... it does happen

I think people forget in SL that 99.9% of vendors and stores are just one or two person operations who have little or no RL retail experiance.

Its so easy in SL to make your store look like something out of Mall of America that people in SL are fooled into believeing they are dealing with some faceless multi-national corperation and not a house wife in Dallas.

I havn't been in SL a long time, and I have to say the shop owners ive met have all been great... especialy if you say something nice about thier products... its like "wow? you really like my dress?"

I've even had a few send me personal IM's right out of the blue hours/days after buying a item asking if it fit ok or if there was any problems with it and if it needed any mods...

Also I look at it, today im in thier shop... tomorrow they may be in my shop... treat others as you wish to be treated and everyone will be happy.

Oh btw Im releasing a line of Plywood cube furniture, sex toys and clothing... anyone want to buy some?... think I'll call it my "Crate" Collection!

A thick skin is a good thing to have. Combine it with a classy attitude in general, and you'll have a much happier life. Actually two happier lives: Your First Life, as well as your Second.

I went to a yard sale a few weeks ago.. lots of nice stuff, but I finally found something I really really wanted.. So I bought the rug and table, took them as they were the only copies. The rug took just fine but the table was just sitting there.. So I checked my inventory, lost and found.. everywhere..

I had noticed some managers in the SIM so I put a shout out since I didn't remember their names.. they both came right away. I was SO mad that, yes, I lost my temper no matter how hard I tried to be calm. But I still explained everything and didn't curse =x

Sometimes it's hard being 'ripped off' when you already have such little cash. Being on both sides of the issue is the only way to live and move on.

Granted, odds are I would have only refunded that buyer. No one with that sort of attitude deserves my stuff =x

I just wish I could do something non harmful to her, like the mud puddle, or..put itching powder in the skirt I sold her, or make her clothes disappear when she was in the middle of a club or turn her face hideously ugly, maybe make her teeth black..sighs..oh god..i want the power!!!

/me looks up from her bag of dirty tricks and asks "By any chance, did she buy anything that gets attached to her avatar? coz this little script right here has a nasty side effect"
