Ok, this is total and 100% bullshit...ok taking deep breath.

My partner can't get into game because it says volume is at it's limits, so logins being restricted.

We have been paying sl players for over 3 years, land owners and he can't get in.
HEY LINDENS how about kick out some dam alts that don't pay you monthly.
I thought that paying players would not be restricted when this happened.

SO thanks Lindens, we wanted to go boating...not sit at like a zombie at a camping place but hell...

He finally got in after about 15 mintues but he should NEVER be stopped from coming in unless it's a grid wide shut down.

I think non-premium accounts that own islands should be able to log into their own island. And perhaps a list of their preferred accounts and estate managers.

paid service allows you access to more tech support options, and the ability to own land parcels.

Nothing else.

Once traffic is removed many of those alts no longer get used since it will not longer apply to search

Apparently, it also gives you priority when they limit logins, too.

I think that's a shame, premium members should get some helpout.

Not as much as there should be a way to stop bots, or at least some of them. It probably will never happen.

I wouldn't mind a bit of priority when you consider what I'm spending.

$9.95 premium fee

$47 (including VAT) on tier (LL get $40 of that - actually probably all $47 as I bet they offset their VAT)

Plus any fees I get from buying L$ and upload fees on top of that.

I'll agree that larger land holders and concierge pay more, but there are plenty of people who don't put a cent into the game.

Premium members should get prefernce on admittance into game over non-paying. But honestly I would like to just see them make it so everyone who wants to get in can play...can do that by getting rid of the alts. (zombies)

Sexy, logins were restricted at that time because inworld services were down:

All Clear 2:09 p.m. PDT Our databases are working normally and we are giving an all clear for in-world services.

[Update 1:54 p.m. PDT. Login is now open. We will update on In-World services shortly.

Re-opened 1:41 p.m. PDT We are experiencing database overload and are re-opening this issue. In-World Services are affected and we are temporarily restricting login.

All clear now. Regardless of the message, this had nothing to do with premium or not; all logins were briefly blocked.

I pay 72 a year on first premium account with a 40 dollar tier
and 22.5 quarterly on a second premium account with an 8 dollar tier

I do not think I deserve any more priority than any other premium member would get. Do I think I should get priority over non paying zombie bot, you betcha (and I have 3 non paying zombie bots, that I use for models when I remember to log them in)

I would gladly have them be booted off the grid to allow me or another paying member in.
(I would say allow premium and island/sim owners first, then non premium payment info used second then non premium payment info on file, then the non premium, no payment info used or on file last)

that is just my opinion thought, not that it really amounts to much

Maybe it's time to look at Wow type account procedures, such as one account, multiple alts but only letting one login at a time.

If the grid is struggling at the 60,000 mark and it's a mark we keep hitting then let's just have one login per user.

you and I both know that would not work, and wow still allows multiple accounts you just have to pay for them

if SL combined all accounts into one, imagine the uproar from those who run camping bots (imagine how much they make in the run of a week) I am willing to bet it is a lot... may seem like pennies, but those pennies add up

Free Accounts
07-18-2008 07:03
Free accounts should have very limited or no privileges compared to paid accounts. This business model that allows for all but land ownership between free accounts and premium accounts is totally stupid on the part of Linden. When you consider a full third of the logged in accounts are free alts and many of these are statistics bots, I am surprised some premium member hasnt sued Linden for Breach of Contract over limited access to paid members yet.

My RL wife and I have been paid members for 2 years now and I for one will not support lindens land based economy again until they limit free account privileges well below current levels.

All these problem will be a mute issue though once the Opensim Project is in Beta by the end of the 2008 or early 2009. But until then, if linden wants SL to stay a viable service they need to address this free account privilege issue or it will kill the game.

Wouldn't a lot of these overcrowding issues be resolved by simply logging out anyone who's been inactive for a half hour or hour? I mean, if you're not playing, why take up space?

This would negatively affect those who use alts as models or in some RP situation, but camping for money would disappear anyway if the traffic thing gets changed. Would it not?

once again we see the racism between players... no, i'm not a premium, and yes, I contribute to LL since I put several "cents" (EUR) in world every month for my shops' rents and personal purchases

what you should ask is something like
- more groups to premiums
- more stipend to premiums
- beeing able to buy directly to LL smaller parcels of mainland instead of regions (that might stopt some of the speculating over small land)

and the list continues...

I get annoyed at the premium should be able to log and the none unable. This account pays over $150US a month but I mainly use my alt who isn't premium. It is still both me and my finances keeping SL going so why shouldn't I have just as much access with the other account which spends more time in world?

The main issue here shouldn't be premium versus no-premium (that looks like racism and personally I think that anyone that stands like that must not be a very good person in RL), as everyone knows premium numbers are dropping but LL’ profits are increasing, which means that premiums aren’t the only ones who give profits to LL. What premiums should ask is some new advantages instead of asking for the death of no-premiums. I’ll probably go premium at the end of the year (might be my reez-day gift) but I’ll continue to support and protect the no-premiums access. Instead I might start to question the reason for only 25 groups, the purchase of only entire regions, probably am inventory-backup… those kind of things

I don't say Premium users.

Gah, why does it have to freaking be premium? I'm premium and I think it should be based on order of payment info, Payment Info Used gets first dibs, then Payment Info On File and then No Payment Info On File.

Actually, you know what? If the concurrency is at the level where SL starts acting up.. I'm not logging in. I'd rather not deal with a borked SL.
