Hi there I am looking for land to rent, best with Paypal monthly payment. I am currently TPing all over the grid and I do find a lot of plots available, but the hard thing is to know if the Landlord is trustable, established and won't leave with my money after a week ;-)

So if someone could recommend a well established company I would appreciate that help!

- Steve Mahfouz
- Garth & Pituca Fairchang
- Wildefire Walcott
- Desmond Shang

There are others, but all of the above i know in some capacity.

Garth & Pituca would be like renting from George and Martha Washington.

I'm dealing with Relic Starbrook and have had nothing but good service and fair treatment from him, I'd recomment Relic to anybody who asked.

I've rented for quite a while now from both Prokofy Neva (mainland) and Desmond Shang (islands), and can wholeheartedly recommend either.

Heartsdale Rentals, Bo Heartsdale. Heard nothing but good things, from what I hear he's a good guy, knows his stuff and runs a nice warm and efficient place. It's beach houses, he also has apartments and hotels that are cheaper than the houses. But the houses themselves are very fair priced.

If you want, they will throw in low prim decor and furniture free and they have more than one choice. It stays in the place when you go but that could save someone new a lot of money and shopping. They have group things to do like dances.

Caledon/Desmond Shang
Tribe Islands
Ninjaland
Sao Estates (where I first rented back in 07)
Azure Islands
and me of course! :) Solace Beach Estates

All are reputable companies who will not take your money and run. Beyond that, look for land you like, a covenant you like, and friendly management. The owner is important, but so are the employees you'll deal with if you need help.

Yes, I think the best places have staff as well, and someone to show you around. Friendly is a good sign, and someone saying that you can IM so and so, or them, with any questions/problems.

Other types of landlords will just barely be nice and/or civil long enough to get your money, then you don't see them much after that. They also do not want anyone to ask them anything.

Yes I prefer owning now as well, as I always say. Because LL can go under, yes, but hopefully not without any warning or recourse, the way another resident can.

You can probably trust the landlords who've been posting in some of the recent threads here on estate v. mainland. If for no other reason - you know that you have a place where you can call them out if they misbehave where they have 'outed themselves' and put their reputations on the line.

Beyond that well...

Caveat Emptor - buyer beware.

Toss a few IMs to people you see on their land, feel them out and feel out how long they've been there. Rent in short term at first, and see how it goes.

In a slow process that's happened once in the history of SL, and over which people have been given a plethora of options and opportunities to speak and be heard about concerns. It hasn't been perfect by any stretch of the imagination - but it has been bureaucratic, methodical, and thought out.

I rent tier from Ninjaland. I have never rented land from Elanthias, Skye, and their staff, but I feel confident in recommending them for that as well.

We have never met personally, only in the forums, but I would trust Desmond Shang completely. I understand he's got a waiting list, though.

I have no personal experience with any others named in this thread, but I've seen many whom I would feel comfortable turning to if I needed to rent estate land, and have not seen any here I would recommend against.

I really have no idea why people choose to pay a landlord when they could just as well be paying LL instead.

Right now I can think of several well established landlords that I would trust more and have better business sense and ethics than LL could ever have.
