Wait...what?

I'm an internationally ranked cynic, and even I think assuming there's an ulterior motive behind a simple holiday greeting is a little odd.

Let me put it this way: If I were M, I'd have disabled commenting, too. ;)

I think it's really just a friendly holiday greeting. Of course, in the aftermath of the erratic communication around the recent pricing adjustments, there are residents who feel like ... well ... meeting someone who floors them with a sucker punch and wishes them a nice evening afterwards.

Yes, I think the invitation to "be a turkey" was just uncalled-for.

Especially after that gruesome Sarah Palin video.

LOL

I'm kidding, of course. I think it's just a holiday greeting.

Beat me to it.

This year, I'm naming the turkey "M".

I always name our Thanksgiving Guest Of Honor after someone on my List. Then I have fun talking to it while preparing it.

We have turkey at Christmas too. His name is that of a certain popular politician.

Ugg... dun remind me!

Seriously though, it's a nice little note form the CEO guy. Nothing more, nothing less. I thought it was fine.

Hm...closed comments, so that his loving message doesn't get polluted.

Next week, it'll be "Oh guess what, we're making *this* change and you aren't going to like IT either! Sorry about all the problems lately! (Not)"

They're all closed these days. I don't know what it is about M, but the way he comes across just doesn't work and I'm sorely tempted to tell him to shove his thanks where the sun doesn't shine...but that wouldn't be in the spirit of thanksgiving.

It was a nice 'all clear' so all of the Linden Lab employees can turn their computers off until Monday and leave us to automated responses. Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!
11-26-2008 12:26
Well, M's post could be regarded as a bit of a reality check for some of us. Think about it, if your reaction to a simple "Happy Thanksgiving!" is a sneer, then no matter who the "Happy Thanksgiving" was from, maybe it's time to unplug from that person. We forget sometimes that we all have the option to DO OTHER THINGS.

If SL made me THAT unhappy, I'd be thinking that maybe a dose of RL could sweeten my outlook. It's not good for any of us to let bitterness overwhelm us.

For me, I can still find it in me to give thanks for DSL and my good fortune in being in at the birth of 3D virtual communities. If LL were to go belly-up tomorrow, it would still have been one heck of a fun ride! I would take away good friends and memories of fun, fun times.

Exactly...if people are still THAT sore over this whole thing, then...what are they still doing, you know, HERE?
