Conan and Rudolph, I honestly think that some people are better off in SL than facing RL. Now, the fact that the majority of us say RL takes precedence doesn't necessarily I think make the minority wrong. It's a poll, not an entrance exam. To paraphrase the question, maybe watering it down, which do you want to do more, login SL or logout. I'd expect most if not all would say login, otherwise wtf are they doing loading the SL client? BUT .. what of the rest of the world who don't login SL. Are they even more right? Sorry, just got my net back .. I'm trigger-happy

It is "chilling" to me that we even ponder such a question. RL must always come before SL. A fascinating thread - and one that must give us pause for thought.

Let's see... In SL...my body doesn't ache all the time. In SL...I'll never get old. In SL...I'm as beautiful as I was intended to be, except for those molecules that slipped before the baking was done. In SL...I own several of my own businesses. In SL...I own a big beautiful home on the ocean. In SL...I will never die. Pretending for a moment that it *could* be done...I'd rather live in SL. However, since it cannot, I happily live my RL, with aching, aging bones, a slight inferiority complex because of those molecules, working for someone else and living in my little home, until I die someday. In the meantime, I visit SL as often as I can. *sigh* And all you people who think that those willing to give up RL over SL? Bite me. I'm quite sane, in no need of therapy.

And in RL you have a fantastic brain that lets you do everything you ever wanted in SL.

Oh, of course, Snowman, but I'd happily live without the aches and pains

From: Rudolph Ormsby If you spend more than twenty per cent of your waking hours on SL, and it is not a fully paid job, and you spend the time that you are not on SL mostly thinking about SL, you need help.
I'm online weekdays from 3 until 9:30 or later, with a short break for food. Weekends I'm on from when I wake up (About 11 usually) until 10:30 pm, with a couple short breaks for food. Sometimes I'm literally online for days. from 11 AM Monday to 2 PM Wednesday. While I do have a business in SL, it doesn't take up the majority of my time right now. So I'm just 'playing' in this world because I have the free time, and nothing to do. I think it makes perfect sense that I would become attached to it, and feel it is more enjoyable than my RL. I don't plan on seeing a therapist.. I have once before, he said I was A-OK... but I'm happy. I don't like it when people say that prefering what makes you happy is a health risk.. isn't what we want in life, just happiness, really? Some people like music, so they do that most of their time. Some people exercise, some people draw, paint, cook.. whatever. For me my happiness comes from computers, and I happen to have found a place where I can use many skills all at once, all involving computers. It makes me happy ^_^ What's wrong with being happy?
