What kind of teleporters do you prefer while shopping?

nice..thanks .. to address a few of those..
Distances: The buildings are tall - the distances are mostly vertical and groups of products will be on different floors, which are from 20M to 40M in height. The more prims the greater the distance between floors To make it worse there is also a road dividing the 2 areas. The best way of looking at it is a multi store environment that is related .. probably the most difficult situation to be in
As to using 1 texture for 16 products.. the product is textures so that would be kinda weird... ( although I know a lot of texture packs are the same texture hue rotated to death but I don't do that..)
Amount of locations. I have currently 26 different distinct categories of products (about 30 locations total), which could be condensed into about 12-1/2 - I am trying to approach this in a " One specialty shop for each product category" way because I have to assume that people will search for a specific thing and then leave. Once fully stocked, Browsing through the entire place would take days and I would like to keep the layout focused.
It would be nice to build a flat sim size store that's all one level and perfectly easy to figure out, but unfortunately I got stuck starting when good land was going for $25/M in decent sims and have to work with what I have..
If I can safely figure that everyone would find their way back to the original entrance point then I could save 870 prims on tp boards and shove 870 more products in the place ...haha.

From: Rifkin Habsburg I recently redid my teleporter/landmark giver.
I made it a large, colorful sculpture to attract people's eyes, and to unify my areas across the sim. I have a problem with people coming to my shop, but not realizing I have many areas over the entire sim.
There are arrows directing you to locations, if you prefer to walk. You can also click on a name to teleport, or click a separate area for a landmark.
I'd appreciate any feedback. Check it out in my sim in Malrif. that's probably also why I chose a huge tall building, at least it is super obvious that there " must " be other floors and areas.

You don't have to put a full tp board in every area. Put one prim in every area that will tp them back to the starting board. That would be more like 30 prims, rather than 870.

From: VonGklugelstein Alter one of the dilemas is.. how to you get people back to the directory without putting a 30 Prim Board at every location? Coolness. I will never buy you stuff. I will never set foot in your store. I will never replay to you again, nor see what you have posted. I never liked peopl who ask questions and then get beligerant with people who are trying to help.

I even thought of leaving a hole in the floor so people could fly up and down from floor to floor.. haha in addition to the stairs and the elevators of course

I don't usually use an in store teleporter, or even one in a large mall, preferring to walk and cam when I shop, but when I do I prefer one similar to Abbott's where you click on the map where you want to go and are TP'ed.

From: VonGklugelstein Alter I am curious if the basic approach of "landmark Givers" is a valid way to set up a transportation system in a store that is rather large with many areas. Or are there better ways? What's easiest to use for the " shoppers" ? \m/ I prefer a TP board with instant teleport. I really hate getting a landmark I haven't asked for or a two click TP where I have to sit on a weird light tube or akward disc.

Just visit Textures R Us and Texture Paradise. Both are VERY busy places with lots of customers. And both use some teleport board system.

From: Fand Aeon The reason no fly was mentioned (as least by me) is that there are some sims that use TP and have restricted flying making you use their tp systems. Advanced / View Admin Options takes care of that quite nicely .

Assuming I see a mall stall and want to maybe visit the main shop, what I'd love for a teleporter would be something that would say a SLURL with a descriptive text in chat. LMs result in clutter, simply showing me the map window is not terribly convenient because I might not be willing to teleport there right now. A SLURL in chat would be best if I want to find that place in logs later, easier to search and not producing clutter.
Within a shop, sit position teleporters to sections make the most sense.

But I agree, some redesign of their store to place things further apart would probably good. I've got my draw distance set to only 96 meters, but it's still a pretty laggy place. With the sheer amount of textures on sale there (and the amount of scripts running to sell them), it might already be a good idea for them to get another sim and divide everything over two sims instead. Not really convenient, but they are pushing the limits of the sim they have by now.

I prefer that big sign board that has parts of the store listed and you just click on it to tp there. I also prefer to see a map of the shop so that I can walk around if I want to. I don't like accepting things when I enter a store. I've seen where a store gives a notecard that has links to each department. It was better than nothing but I'd prefer just the clickable map board.

The two-clickers don't bother me as much ... but how many times have I been offered a LM instead of a tp, on a sim where all tps are redirected to the spot I showed up in? Oh, several hundred times, I think.

I also prefer the teleport boards, either as a map of the store or a level listing. I hate the menu-based systems while shopping because you have to wait in line, wait for the tp to load in the object and click a few extra times (annoying).
As another option for larger stores, I prefer the option to take a notecard containing all landmarks so I can keep it open in the corner of my window - maybe even save it for later use.

I tried the map ones - they are too complicated and cannot work in a building with 13 floors also with the Landmarks.. if you want one you click to get one.. if you don't .. you don't have to click it.. only problem with landmarks is that they can be outdated if content moves. the teleporter at the " big textrue place " is ok.. but it drags you around like a rag-doll.. again something that will not work in a multistory building. and "the insane lag" is the exact reason why I am doing what I am doing... unfortunately I don't sell enough stuff yet to be able to float 2 or more sims. maybe if I start making 10 packs of the same texture in 10 colors and mix in some useless textures just to up the count - I might get there faster.. I think I am going to do both.. a teleporter board and a Landmark Giver, that way if someone has major emotional issues about landmarks they can use the other one.. now back to the question.. what is a good teleporter script to get?

Ok the verdict is in... after 2 months worth of detailed research I have solved the problem of how to set up navigation in my store and I will answer my own question and share this valuable info..
I decided on a everything but the kitchen sink approach.
1.) A 2 click interactive TP board that has pictures which are scrollable. Each Board can have up to 30 addresses in it with pictures of the places that the tp will take you to.. in addition to a hover text that shows you more detail on the location you are about to go to. This also visually links all my stores together on one easy to use device. at 6 Prims each ( or hacked into 4Prims) I will use them like candy all over the place.
This is the Main component and by far the coolest tp system that I have found on SL: and since nobody wanted to tell me .. the creator is Klug Kuhn
2.) A Directory Board of Store Areas with individual Landmark Givers to each section of product.
3.) A note card giver with a notecard with all the tp links on one page.
4.) An SD X3 Elevator !!!! kinda jerky but super cool looking and I dig the sexy voice that tells you what floor you are on...awesome stuff
5.) Flying shafts next to the elevator for manual travel...
6.) A sign that tells you all these options

From: Ghosty Kips Oh yeah, nothing says 'vacate the sim' like a no-fly zone. Almost as fast as 'no scripts'. When you're shopping, what does 'no scripts' prevent you from doing?

Just about any teleporter that doesn't use the little red flying saucer that follows me around after I get to the destination.
