Thanks for the quick replies. The Linden plots are only in my vicinity and not even 'attached' on one side, so I'm unlikely to get them. Didn't really want them (and their 3 prims) except to keep ads away.

One non-Linden 16m2 plot is for sale for l$ 10,000!

as i said, linden land is SUPPOSED to have auto-return set to 5 minutes. contact guy linden and maybe he'll re-set it on those plots.

it seems to me the purpose of ad-farms is not ad income, but extortion of the ppl around the plots to buy them up.

"for sale" plots show up as yellow on MAP. "auction" plots show up as purple.

you can also go to the "auction" webpage and add plots to your "watch list".

Thanks, Egon. I went to the auction page, logged in, and licking WATCH LIST simply tells me I am not watching anything. lol I can't figure out how to add something. My suspicion is that the plot must be up for auction already for me to watch, yes?

I can't put the coordinates in for a plot not yet for sale?

yes, you can watch parcels already up for auction.

seems to me you're looking for a notification of new parcels up for auction? don't think that can be done. that's what the auction webpage is for. i assume.

you'll just have to do what it did ... check the plot you're interested in every morning. since the auctions are for 2 days or so, there is no possibility of missing it as long as you check daily.

i know it's a pain. it was for me. but it became routine until the plot DID go to auction.

Why isn't it Automated?

Hehe, I guess I had THAT coming. Damn typing!

I am STILL hoping to get an answer from someone that knows (read=Linden) as to why the reclamation process doesn't automatically clean the parcel up and put it for sale. That seems like an easy thing for an admin programmer to make fully automated and can let the Lindens get back to more important things.

I'd assume it's because they have to determine it's use first. They look at location, etc, see if it would be good for a Linden Road or other protected parcel for whatever reason before they just auction it off (Or w/e)

Then, maybe they don't do it immediately in case they get a support ticket freaking out because their land was suddenly siezed or something accidentally...

i suspect they DON'T want this to happen automatically.

imagine all the land that would come up for sale IMMEDIATELY ... and imagine the low winning bids of those that received bids.

seems to me LL can make more money trickling the plots into the auction queue.

I've gotten the impression that some parts of the process are automated. Though you're probably right in that they don't want to flood the market, not any more anyway, I think they're also not in any hurry to recycle parcels that are in default (expired premium) as long as they don't look horrible..

If you see some maint land and want to see auctioned, add a support ticket and ask for them to send it to the queue. Just keep it short & clear - make the subject "Auction please: SomeSim 96,128 (mainteniance land)" or something similar.

I've done this before and was notified of the support ticket being closed when they got around to adding it to the auction queue. Depending on how busy they are and how many people have requests in front of yours, this may happen quickly or it might take a while.

System Doesn't Work IMO

Well, the flood would presumably happen once, and then the trickle would continue as land is reclaimed at its normal rate. Sometimes we have to admit that a system isn't working and make improvements to it.

And because the system is auction-based, it should reflect a fair price as per the market.

Well, Noah's flood was only a one-time deal, too.

I think there's a _lot_ of mainland out there that could be recycled. Probably far more than people suspect, especially on the old mainland.

What's the hurry? It's not like there's a shortage of land right now and LL does move things into the auction queue if you give them a polite poke.

The "hurry" is that I am under-utilizing my tier, there is a piece of land adjacent to my property that has been abandoned and reclaimed and now sits unused other than as a trash receptacle.

A glut of land elsewhere has little benefit to me.

stick a ton of small prims underground on that parcel to utilize up the remaining prims.

start a support ticket asking for it to be put in the auction queue. wait a day or two and IM guy linden about it - mentioning the ticket number.

and wait for it to go auction.

not much else you can do.

Check a few posts up.. If you add a support ticket, they will move specific parcels up on the auction list.
