I live above a pizza restaurant. And the quality multiplies by multi digits compared to Dominos.

I think I can leave my computer for a minute to get my pizza :P

furthermore, while the labor value may be equalized in terms of those who are able to access it, it actually would tend towards widening the disparity of those who cannot... the ability to participate is not guaranteed, and given some of the high requirements, participation isn't likely for the vast majority under the current schemes.

Void you've got some real points there, the quoted one may be the 'big one' which makes all the difference. The Digital Divide.

This has been true for things like education, food, and so forth: distribution (or lack of it) was everything. Sort of like the world hunger problem. It's not a food shortage problem. It's getting the food out there to everybody who needs it. Extremely good points.

Jig that is a very interesting, wonderful take on things. I've mentioned this anecdote before ~ I was in a taxi in Buenos Aires, and mentioned the great number of professional dog walkers in that city. You would see them: one person being pulled along the street by fifteen or so straining dogs. Over and over. The taxi driver said this (roughly translated to English): "For every dog there is a lonely person in the city."

He had a point. The dogs often lived in the towering buildings, where the city people were prone to a life of work, commute, sleep, commute, work... very little time or room for love in their lives. The computer is changing that for millions.

Alazarin I shall draft a promisory note that grants you either $L 5, or 10,000 Ginko Bonds or 50,000 shares of Madoff Securities International (MSIL).

Meantime, let me contact five friends and tell them I have a great way of turning their $L 2 into $L 4, provided they get me two investors each... ;)

Kasuga, how much $L would get you to send us a pizza?

Big picture.... SL isn't going anywhere......virtual worlds are our natural progression into the inevitable techonolgical future of mankind.

Eventuall currency on a global scale is going to become more standardized.....and thus easily convertable to the micro-chip you'll have in your wrist. :p

The world is changing.....rapidly......we're living in an extremely signifigent time in history tho we probably wont all be around to see the really really cool stuff.....cause we're gonna have to get past some pretty serious social/economic crashes first. But it's part of the changes happening.....part of what rapid growth in technology does to human beings. Think about it......for most of our existence on this planet so far.....we were barely clothed and unable to cross great distances of land or sea without sacrificing weeks or months of our lives to travel and risk of dire consequence. We didn't know about penacillin until the last century....hell we didn't even know how important washing our hands was!!!

My point......look at the last 100 years compared to the last few thousand.......Yeah, SL will have an impact on the future.....absolutely.....but it also may well get lost in the warp speed pace that technology is advancing and altering our lives. ;) Perhaps LL will be fondly remembered the way 'Pong' is today....hehehehe

I think, since there is actually no worthy replacement for SL...yet, there will always be a market for this.

Told it before. SL is probably the only virtual world that has absolutely no limits.
You can do anything, and if you can't, someone will create it eventually.

Linden Labs just needs to fix the lag issues, and bring it under the people's attention again.
People with money reside here, and when there are people with money, there are investors and commerce.

And then you have an economy rolling.
