Welcome, Ameliza!

This gang is friendly and helpful and hanging out with them will get you up to speed on SL stuff really fast.

If you like the community, a lot of us are also members of the in world group, The Forum Cartel.

I haven't decided whether the Forums are like being in SL when I can't get to my computer and log on, or if logging on and being in world is just an extension of the Forums with graphics...

Welcome Ameliza! /me waves :)

Yup..the crew here is awesome.

Definitely join the Forum Cartel group in world. It's worth 100 times the prices of admission, or more! (erm..that would be free. :D)

And don't hesitate to look people up in world either. They're a friendly bunch there too.

Except me...I'm mean and surly...and I bite...

/me bares his teeth and tries to look fierce...but his giant quivering ears ruin the effect.

So don't give up, stick with it, and enjoy the ride!

I joined the cartel in late September, and haven't been charged a dime.

That was a strange glitch that was taken care of very quickly. It is free to belong to the group.

Without being nosey... why are you not allowed money? I only ask because if you are a minor regular SL is not for under 18 folks.

Tons of good freebies available, just enter that in search, and as a side benefit to visiting those sites, you get to meet others who are new to the world who may be just as hesitant to interact but appreciate a friendly hello. [ok, for guys you do need to search a little harder, and my freebie shoes tend to look like shoeboxes.]

Avery, if you want some free clothes, but your therapist doesn't like the idea of you going to the ultra-crowded freebie places...

You could look at either shop.onrez.com or xlstreet.com. You can "buy" the freebies that people list there too. They'll be delivered directly to you in world. You do have to go through a registration.

You could have some new duds, without the aggravation. And take your shiny new self to where you go to talk. :)

It's a thought...

...and, as an argument for you therapist...people really do react differently to a well-dressed avatar than to one still in default, or low quality freebie, clothes.

Hey, Doc! Let the poor fellow buy some clothes, willya? Shopping, and talking about shopping, is one of the main things we DO here in Second Life.

Avery, I'm thrilled to see SL being used for therapy. A gold star for both you and your therapist. I'm no therapist, but my bit of advice would be: Don't take it too seriously. SL is a place for fun and adventure, for meeting people and above all for enjoying yourself. Focus on the fun, and the therapy will take care of itself.

There's a better pun in there. AV-ery Crazyboi. As in, "avatar-like, avatar version of".

I don't think too much of either you or your therapist tagging you with "A Very Crazy Boy", no matter what problems you may have.

But your SL self is an avatar. If, for example, someone's name was "Smith", the avatar version of Mr. Smith would be av-ery, avatar-like, the avatar of Smith. I just think it's a better way to make a pun on your name, with fewer negative connotations.

thankyou for your opinion lindal and i still dont understand most of what you said but my therapist has allowd me on to tell you that my opinion is that people from the united socialist states of america dont have a good sense of humour
my therapist said thankyou for the nice things you said about using sl and the forums for therapy but she said that shopping therapy is an old and stupid joke and not a help to me
