Friday Thread - Rub this lamp

If you found a lamp on your SL land and rubbed it and out came a Linden that would grant you 1 wish in SL. What would that wish be? Fast forward over over all the wish for a zillion wishes nonsense. The constraint is that it must be within the power of a linden to do.

Genie Linden: Please cut a 2048 patch of parkland along the south side of Route 66 in Bay City - Rollers where I can build. I'm not looking to make money from it, just to make a fun place for people to hang out. A free patch of land would make that possible, and you know by reading my mind (or chat logs) what I want to build and do there. You know I'm in SL for the experience and to enhance the experience of others. Thanks Genie Linden!

So i guess wishing for a stable, non-laggy SL is out of the question, same as getting rid of bots.

It would have to be M Linden himself who came out of the lamp, for only he could grant this wish. :

"I wish that you would institute and enforce a policy change at Linden Lab, mandating that 100% of the employees must take, comprehend, and enact in their daily work routines a course on "How to provide excellent customer service", with the penalty for failing to obtain that training or implement it in their daily work to be termination of employment, no matter WHO the employee is, or at what level in the company, including the CEO."

Probably to go back into the lamp.

I'd wish for a job as a newly created LL director of aesthetics. My first task would be a new AV mesh and proper UV map, and in my spare time I'd fly around the grid removing rezzed trash, used bullets, and eyesores. I'd even take a second to clear peoples crap off LL land too lol.

While you're at it can you swing by Plano with your godpowers and remove some particle thingies from the border of my land? The Lindens haven't gotten to my ticket of over a week old

Oh great and powerful Linden, please give us scriptable avatar joints.

After Dana gets the job, could we put her in a lamp that I can rub?

*ponders*...i think i would have to say one wish.... Free land tier for a year minimum on my current holdings (not to expand and abuse, just on what i already own), to make up for all the clusterf**ks LL has tossed at us.


That or to be *Naughtiest-Neko Linden*...here to ban the bots, clean up the trash (lost prims, ect) and SMITE the griefers ...but wait.. wouldn't that give me free land AND a paycheck? *grins*

Efficiency is the key, and that lamp represents a non value added step in the process

make a script that anything called 'object' rezzed on land gets automatically auto-returned after 12 hours, it would just have to be the singular word 'object' and although it would take a little time getting used too, all creators would soon learn to name their stuff before the 12 hours were up.

Genie Linden:

Please grant all SL residents a sort of "private sandbox" feature where we can log in to build, script, create particles, upload clothing textures, whatever, and test them in an actual working SL environment, with full access to our inventories (including the ability to take our creations into inventory and have them stay in our main grid inventory!), without any ability to interact with the general public. This way we can work without group notices, IM's from friends, etc., and still be in the real SL environment for testing purposes and the ability to save our changes.

Please wave your magic wand over the Department of Public Incompetent Works and have them really become in touch with the need of the mainland tier-paying customers. Turn their Fascist regime into a community service.

So, I guess I wish for in-world problems, lag, poor business model, broken asset servers, and er,... what else can they do? Oh right, mixed customer service.

I'd have to think on this.

On one, I'd like the old broken or missing stuff to be back and working again -- a task that might take a genie.

But I'd also like to have a "allowed to build/script" list on the "about this land," so we don't have to carry a bajillion group for every place we can build.

But I'd also like all the continents to have waterways connecting them.

But... but... but...

I'd wish for a better avatar mesh and neck attachment point... since me running LL is kinda out of a single Linden's power.

Darn cheapass Linden genies...you're supposed to get THREE wishes!

Sell SL to a company that actually knows what it is doing.

I'd like Hippos! back.

A competent company would likely kill everything (else) you hold dear in SL...
