...friend of mine got me to get a furry =P
So where in SL is the best place to go for Newby Furries? Is there like a "more" popular furry sandbox type hang out? Not interested in the "club" or dance scene...
oh btw..im not talking just neko ears and tail...i mean full fledge furry...I'm a black scary male unicorn...LOL

Lusk, Serenity Woods, Rocket City Furmeet are three sims that quickly come to mind.

Been a while but I used to go to Luskwood, Lost Furest and a placed called Furry Vermin. They were clubs in a way but much like the cartel hangout in that the music and dancing were secondary to chatting and bad jokes.

luskwood would be the best place to start, always nice people there (the ones that arn't afk anyway ) and it's a PG sim. it's my favourite place anyway. i occasionally build at the boneyard (sandbox) as well when i get sick of my own company at home -Crunch

From: Oryx Tempel Are the Furnation sims still around? Yes, to the best of my knowledge. But they tend to be laggy, and not as welcoming to new furries as some of the other sims mentioned. Depends on who you run into in Furnation. It';s a big place, and has both good and bad...

Shopping for furry avatars
09-05-2008 06:20
It's been a long time since I've seen this topic pop up.
I know about Northstar mall I know about Rocket City FurMeet What are some of the larger places out there.. malls, what have you, for furry avatars, clothing, and (both PG and Adult) accessories? In particular, I'm hoping to find places with a lot of variety, not just Shop A, Shop B, etc.
Any suggestions?

Serenity Woods, Luskwood, Lost Furest, The Wild, Furnation, Rocket City Fur Meet... I landed in some EuroFur sims the other day... can't remember their exact names but if you type EuroFur into your map search they should pop up. From any of those places you're bound to find links and connections to newer Furry sims that are off the beaten track.

While not specifically "furry", the Isle of Wyrms has a market which includes vendors for quite a few of the popular furry/dragon av and accessory makers. Regions Limbo and Cathedral.

Furnation is still around, but it's riddled with drama and greifing. Having a good time there is kinda hit and miss. Rocket City Furmeet and Luskwood are great places, their staff is friendly and the sims are PG and monitored. They're places I highly recommend visiting. RCFM is more of the "classic" furry scene, with con goers, artists, fursuiters, etc. Serenity Woods is pretty, but I haven't spent a lot of time there so I don't know about the people. It's a Mature sim that allows full nudity, which I don't care for. The Ryder cluster is where I make my home, and obviously would recommend it It's not a furry place per se, there are just as many humans, neko, robots, etc hanging around, but it's generally very friendly and easy going. There are always at least a few admins online so greifing and such are pretty quiet. The only thing a visitor should keep in mind is that a lot of the space is rented, so it would be a bad idea to walk into a house and get comfortable ;P

Question: one of my disguises is Anubis. Has a tail and black skin, and a prim head. Does Anubis count as a furry?

From: Dakota Tebaldi Question: one of my disguises is Anubis. Has a tail and black skin, and a prim head. Does Anubis count as a furry? More or less. "Furry" applies to any animal with human qualities. Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Tweety, Balto, Spirit, and Falcor are all furry by definition. In general usage though, the term applies only to humanoids, ie bipeds. There is also a lot of negative stigma associated with the term furry, which leads many more conservative individuals to use the term anthropomorphic to describe animals with human qualities, that also walk upright. The term "fur" can also apply to a furry, and can also be applied to a real person who likes furry characters. ("Furry" typically is not applied to people) Anubis, in his original depiction, would not usually be considered a furry because he was more or less human with a jackal's head. Modern depictions, with fur and a tail, would usually fall under the furry classification.

Hmn.....forgive me if this no-doubt common question has been rehashed ad nauseum on the Forums, but: Pluto.......Furry? Goofy.....NOT Furry?

From: Czari Zenovka Whatever you do, DON'T go to Ahearn. I saw this yesterday, got into my cutest cat avatar, and headed straight to Ahern. A few inhabitants noticed. Some of them put on furry avatars and some took out prim pets. And then, then, they . . . DANCED! It was terrifying.

Did you see that guy in the movie ad for "College" I would call him furry for sure! *screams like he does imitating a yeti*
