Is it just me or is there nobody ever around anymore? Heck I’d even enjoy a griefer to stop by! lol

Is it a sign of the times?

OR is it the tech problems we continually have?

One of my friends sees in grey and cant edit or build anymore. Figures he will sell out while he can. I’m considering selling as well if I'm forced to use the newer version viewer(s). Gets to be too frustrating lagging, freezing and crashing all the time. 4 times in 45mns last night!

There used to be many people on-line and it made for an interesting place to exchange ideas and show off artwork and building skills. One of the places where I have a home was actually a busy thoroughfare - Chaska Gorge. When I was bored I used to go "dot-hopping" and often met "characters".
I hate to keep bemoaning the fact that the world has changed but YOU are right and so is Mari. It IS spring (but NOT where I am yet).
However, I honestly think the demographics of this world has changed. It is being used for different purposes by a widely divergent group of people. I think there tends to be less emphasis upon free expression and artistic endeavours, and less of the exploratory and even dangerous world of two years ago.
I am even afraid to see a "them" and "us" attitude appearing. I was expecting teens to appear in droves (after they came of age) but I think they have abandoned us. Instead, I think there is a certain "frowstiness" and this leads to isolation and exclusivity. Gradually, people leave because the "gloss" wears off. After all, we don't REALLY live here.
SL will chug along but I think oldbies will be eroded as newbies change the dynamics of what this place is meant to be.

Well this is my first spring with SL and I understand, but I didn’t think it would drop off this much.

Spring probably does have a lot to do with it. I know I have a lot more things to do out and around now myself. More inclination to be outdoors even if it just means doing some things in my yard (note to self: must pot up planters on deck this week!)

Also, things have been pretty borked lately, at least for me which is making it quite annoying to stay inworld very long. Yesterday for instance, nothing would attach or wound up my butt (hair, shoes,) and rezzing was a bitch. Money transactions were slow or non-existent. I couldn't walk properly - was gliding instead and walking through objects which I should not have been. Does not make for a fun experience, one I want to stick around for very long. Basically came in to do what I needed to do and was out again. And this has been going on for a couple of weeks on and off, it seems.

It's usually only on Sundays that less than a third of my friends list is online. I even popped in to Purrfect and spotted one of my friends there looking for a new pair of nekomimi. It was random meet for us and further reinforced that we have things in common. (^_^)

I know my favorite welcome area has been dead for a while, but, not enough peoples in world at all? With 50,000 online (I know... Bots (=_=))

Maybe you need to lurk moar. Expand your circle. (^_^)y

I tend to be quite content in world either doing things alone or with my Partner so I haven't noticed a change one way or the other.

However...where you go in world makes a HUGE difference. For example, two places we go dancing are Frank's Place and the Avilion Ballroom. Going to either is an exercise in lag frustration as those places are always full.

I take a lot of classes. Some classes have a limit to the number of students, so I go early to assure a spot and am usually surrounded by others doing the same thing. Most classes I go to are full.

We took a stroll through Acropolis last night and saw people on even the more secluded trails.

On the other hand, I have gone to other places that have gorgeous builds but are completely empty.

So, as they say in the real estate business - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

did you happen to catch
or did it happen so fast
what you thought would always last
has passed you by
is everything speeding up
or am I slowing down
just spinning around
and I don't know why
all the pieces don't fit
thought I really didn't give a sh*t
I never wanted to be like you
but for all I aspire
I am really a liar
and I'm running out of things I can do

I'd like to stay
but every day
everything pushes me further away
if you could show
help me to know
how it's supposed to be
where did it go?

pleading and
needing and
bleeding and
breeding and
feeding
exceeding
where is everybody?
trying and lying
defying denying
crying and dying
where is everybody?

well okay, enough,
you've had your fun
but come on there has to be someone
that hasn't yet become
so numb and succumb
and god damn I am so tired of pretending
of wishing I was ending
when all I'm really doing is trying to hide
and keep it inside
and fill it with lies
open my eyes?
maybe I wish I could try

pleading and needing
and bleeding and breeding
and feeding exceeding
where is everybody?
trying and lying
defying denying
crying and dying
where is everybody?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

At the risk of infuriating Mari :D I'd like to offer a perspective I haven't seen yet in this thread. In my First Life® I live in a city of 6 million. Will I ever meet even a tiny fraction of that number? No. And it's not like I want to. Like most people, I tend to hang with friends and others with common interests. Even taking a walk in my neighbordhood, I can encounter hundreds of people or no one, depending on the time of day and whether there are events happening, like street fairs.

I think it's much the same here. You find like-minded people, become friends, hang out with other friends. Sure, there might be 60,000 people (some of them bots ;-) in world at the same time as me, but what does that mean, really? Who cares? What I care about are the experiences and the friends to share those experiences with. And that means investing some energy in finding out where things are happening, and when.

Seek some groups out that share your interests. Maybe they will have meetings where you can go to meet new people. Also, think about taking in classes at places like NCI or TUI, there are always new people to meet there. Speaking of NCI hang out there some. I have met some great people there.
