@Perre: Ooooooh.....wow....MAJOR boom!
![]() I actually thought of pestering him with my rainmaker deluxe plus thunderstorm sounds-I really like it, and I could just move it to my parcel boundary and it would rain in HIS place too...with sound.... ![]() Funny enough he seems to have turned off the light from the cone at the moment-maybe it got on his nerves too....the cone itself, thou, STILL encroaches on my parcel. It's...huge... |

I've got a very similar problem with a neighbor who built four enormous spotlights using 60' huge prim cylinders. They sweep through my (and other neighbors') parcel every ten seconds, some right through my neighbor's houses! Have AR'ed this and waiting to see if Lindens will come and remove same.

Sounds to me like it's basically an ugly build issue. And as far as I know, there's no laws against ugly builds. Which is why neighbours can ruin your parcel in the blink of an eye.

I don't think they've once complained about the lighthouse itself. Just the light-beam prim that crosses over into their land and makes their stuff flicker. It is most definitely a parcel encroachment issue, which IS against the rules. |

Any "light beam" has to be made of prims. And if those prims extend past the parcel boundries, it IS an AR offense, and can be forced to be removed.
The "beam" apparently has a local lighting property attached to it, and is also an alpha-mapped texture. As it moves through an area, it will cause glitches with every alpha texture that it intersects on someone's line of sight, and will take the place of various local lights in your area when it is closer to you than those other local light sources. Both interferances can cause problems. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

Compensation, anyone? tee hee Seriously, this guy has a cafe with Sigmund Freud in its name, so if that lighthouse isn't a phallic reference.... ![]() I have taken one of my fave hydrangea textures now and stacked four of them on top of each other, each sized 10x10, and put them in front of the lighthouse to block it from my view. I love the hydrangeas. and the beam cuts right through the topmost of them...I could be nastyand made the top of them flexi so the wind would drag it into his lighthouse all the time...but then again I'm not a nasty neighbour myself (I'll admit I did try it tho, it WOULD work fine) ![]() It's not only "a little" on my parcel, but encroaches quite a bit. "no object entry" won't keep it out tho. |

Do what Ava said, it should work. Surround your house with your own local lighting sources, 6 or more. Make them 0 dropoff and the maximum distance (so their effect is seen over the greatest possible distance), then turn down the intensity to taste. As long as you are standing closer to them than you are to the lighthouse the guy's lighting effects should not show up at all.
Then nuke him just for fun. And post pics of said nukage ![]() |

I didn't even get to explaining the local lights thingie ... Ah, well - first AR after half a year of SL. Is that good or bad as far as AR averages go? go to view, scroll down to beacons i think , click on switch off particles. and not to play devils advocate, but the lighthouse builder/user is correct. with all the issues SL has been having latley, a flickerin texture every, whats 10 secs?, is nothing to get worked up over. usually that means you have texture bleed, and may have nothing to do with the light passing over your home. the light may just makeyou more aware of it. you also said he ejected you off his parcel. how did you approach him? on his property? asking him to turn off his lighthouse? _____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Nah, it's giant prims, not particles. And with flickering, I didn't mean any alpha glitch, but the fact that the light passed over everything every few seconds-lighting up everything. Including the inside of my house. We were extremely polite, I am not a bitchy neighbour! We just aksed politely if he realised his light lights up the whole sim and if it had to be that way-sometimes people don't realise they affect others' parcels. But he just replied he liked it and ZAP. Kicked out. But guess what- he has now edited the lighthouse and took out the whole beam. I don't know why. I didn't approach him again or pestered him about it, nothing???? |

Maybe the guy finally had a good look at it and decided it wasn't a good idea to have this 20 metre monster prim over my parcel! ![]() |

I would pay extra for the right to RETURN any object that encroaches over my land.
I suspect many people would. I really wish LL would let us tend our own boundaries rather than having to resort to AR-ing when some newb crashes a stretched out space ship on the edge of an inactive/unresponsive neighbors parcel. *grumble* |

And visual mute, which I believe is already in some of the open source versions. Just click on something, say "Yeah, I don't wanna see that" and poof it's gone. Ad-cut extortion will be a thing of the past... they'll just be pretty little squares of grass.

some guy had put a huge megaprim at 650m in my home region. it was nearly as big as the sim. not only did it create a vacuum it also rendered the minimap useless. i had to ar it nearly every day for a week and a half before a linden reacted.
so yeah its better if you can convince your neighbour to fix such things, but if that fails the lindens do eventually do something if you ar it enough. |
