Like has been said before, you have stated you dont want RL info but yet you want a RL contact in a way. You dont know them maybe they are married, partnered and their RL partner does not know about SL. Simply give them something in SL if they wanted a closer bond they would give you RL info, they have not so unless you ask which as you have atated you dont want that info then forget it

You may want to stop and think, would this person appreciate being sent a RL present out of the blue from someone in SL. It would creep some people out, myself included.

I guess I need to cancel that Yankees T -shirt.

If your close enough to want to send something in RL then are they close enough to trust you with RL info like an address.
I was close to someone in here and we did exchange items by RL mail but that came after some time> If they are not wanting to give that info then leave it to SL gifts

QFT. I've been with my SL partner for over 2 1/2 years (well, off and on as partners, but always still together...it gets confusing...lol)

Anyway, we spend a lot of time on SL using a 3rd party voice client, we each know a lot about each others' RL's, I gave him my mother's phone number with the caveat to ONLY use it if I disappeared from SL as she would know what the situation was; but we've honestly never asked for anything beyond that.

OTOH, during my IRC days two different men sent gifts to me, one surprised me with flowers delivered on my birthday. I also knew a lot about those two men and knew they wouldn't show up on my doorstep or anything. And that was about 5 different homes I've lived in ago, so the address is no longer valid.

Honestly, I think with Google and all the computer technology and search methods, if someone REALLY wanted to find another person's address & phone, they could.

But back to the OP's question, if you feel comfortable asking for the address, then you could get a feel if the other person is similarly comfortable with that.

I think that is the coolest thing when they do that, send flowers I mean... It was the sweetist thing he (mine) did... His note was perfect.

But, about rl info, I sell items on ebay and have never advertised exactly what my user name is there... many reason and I woud LOVE to bring it into SL however, my rl location name and other information can be gained from anyone and Im not up for that ... there ARE to many weird people on SL.... Several have advised me not to.....

I have done it before. Of course he lives in another Country so we were both pretty safe. He is a special friend, but not that kind. We knew a lot about each other's personal lives so we knew that we had nothing to fear. The exchange of address is done quite often in here. This is something that you should discuss with your friend first though.

There are many special things that you can purchase in sl and give to your friend. I would start this way first. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
