I usually TP back to my home location, which is on my front porch, but sometimes I'll log off from the roof if I've been taking pictures or working on something. Every now and then I'll log off from one of my shops as I like to make the rounds and check the visitor counters before bed when I can.

E.g. avatar is asleep mode, but in a pose for two (in bed e.g. of somewhere else in "public" areas..
Why would you explicitly request "disconnect" in such a situation? If you're going to criticize something, please read it first.

I usually spend the night in some jail with my best friend, saying "She didn't look like a cop, did she?" until my human comes and bails us both out.

maybe you don't understand me?
Maybe the otherway arround.?

However, from what i understood from your post is this:
The avatar stays online, whith a "asleep" above their head.. and that they don't appear on the map as dot. And going to be prim counting, while not being a prim actually..
to me this tells me, the avatar is online (as a whole), but not interacting anymore (unless on a pose, just like bots).

So, in that thought, and understanding you gave me from your post, i forsee a exploitation for some griefers, in the way i've given examples about.

Either my virtual office or my virtual castle. Sometimes I pass out shopping and log in back at the store so I can continue my spree.

Only if the explicitly choose to at the time they log out. Quoting from the message you replied to: "They'd have to count as a prim on the parcel, of course, and wouldn't show up on the map as a green dot... and this would have to be something you explicitly selected when you logged out... but that would be a useful capability."

I almost always return home, and curl up on the rug with my virtual puppy :)

In RL I sleep in bed with my rl dog and kitty :)

I spend it dozing in the arms of my hubby, then we log off. I like logging in and seeing us in each others arms. It makes a nice start to my sl day.

In SL I almost always return to my house, let the dog in, get him settled in front of a fireplace, and then either sit down to read or lie down and relax before logging off.

A bit like Sable--I like to go home and say goodnight with a friend, then get to enjoy the hug next time I wake up.
Always consider the log-on screen...I usually make sure I'm not a nudie.

Very interesting

Apparently I didn't make myself clear. I do log out after hopping into my SL bed.

Anyway, I am always holding my teddy bear, so there would be no place for a griefer to pose. :-)

So, if someone logs out, no green dot appears? I didn't know that. So, my neighbors may be home but off line?

I just log off without any rigmarole and when Jig comes on line she is standing in front of a painting. Real me sleeps in my bed in my bedroom or on my couch in my main room overlooking a frozen lake in winter. In summer I am elsewhere. Sometimes, I sleep on teh floor coz I like teh hardness of the planks against me. I wear drawstring pants and an old Hawaiian shirt or a man's rugby shirt. I always fall asleep to music.
In real I sleep alone. Always alone. I cant stand a man near me in my bed. If a man stays over he gets teh spare room or guesthouse. Men are NOT required as sleeping partners.

I'm with you on this one. I tend to like a lot of space when I sleep and I don't like anyone touching me.

As Virginia Woolf wrote, a woman requires "a room of one's own." Literally in this case.
