Thanks for all the recs! When I first started skin shopping, a lot of the ones I looked at had painted-on, unmoddable eyebrows, and most of the ones that didn't came with unmoddable hair caps in the wrong color and looked horrible with my own hair cap. So getting the eyebrows right is really important for me. My hair color is a bit unusual, so if I can't match the eyebrows to it, I'm not gonna be happy. What do the folks with pink or green hair do? I don't mind a bit of shine if it looks natural, I just don't want to look like I've been swimming in baby oil or sweat or am auditioning for a sex club. I've seen a few banners for Brazen Woman that looked good. I don't want to look elderly myself, but I'm tremendously proud of anyone who tries it in the SL environment! From: Marianne Little That was some list. Rihanna. Yeah, I know. Explains at least why I've been so discouraged. I'm kind of stuck between wanting to meet other people's standards of a "good" skin and knowing exactly what my character looks like and not being willing to make her look like someone she's not. It would be much easier if I were creating an alt without a pre-established identity; then I could just go with what looked good instead of worrying about what looked _right_. From: Sony Swords best female brain ? I was going to say we couldn't buy those, which is a shame 'cause so many need them so badly. But then I realized -- this is SL. I'm sure someone somewhere is selling brains.

Of course! *They have to feed the zombies!* About skins again - eyebrows are one thing that is really hard to paint and make look 'good' let alone realistic. The worst skins look like someone scribbled them on with crayon. So I hear you on that one. A lot of hair comes with a free bald cap, and it should really be bald - no hair color at all.

Did you know there is a skin fair going on until Wednesday? Well, there is! One stop shopping. And some great stuff here. There are a lot of pale skins but also skins in most skin tones and also male skins. Demos are free. http://slurl.com/secondlife/UVogue/188/180/21

From: Sony Swords best female brain ? Tallest dwarf? Pep (funniest accountant!) PS Second hand female brains are much more expensive than male ones; it's apparently because they have hardly been used.

From: Pserendipity Daniels Thank goodness it was you that posted the first response! Pep (Another more sensitive person might have taken it seriously. ) Lol. Well, thank you...I think! I'm trying on some of the demos I got at the skin fair. Their "Kimberly" skin is really pretty. And you get a set of 3 - not demos, skins - for $1 Linden. It's by FS. Imagen also gives a dollarbie set, plus a tintable bald cap. I'm not sure if that means tintable hair or eyebrows. Joshooah thank you. Between looking at all these samples and trying the Eloh skins maybe I will learn something.

From: Rihanna Laasonen Any recommendations for places that do a variety of good pale skins -- not goth white, just fair-skinned? I'd love to have a better, more realistic skin, but the ones I see around are all either too tan or too freckled or too corpselike or too made-up or too ingenue. Once in a while I wear an Eloh skin with just smoky makeup, but mostly I use my newbie-designed appearance with a freebie skin that's just shading and mostly transparent, so my slider appearance shows through with just a bit more definition. It's the only thing I've found that makes me look like me, and not like someone else. I'm sure what I want must be out there somewhere, but the search is so discouraging... Gala has very nice fair skins...

Lots of pale skins here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Tula/32/246/96Salon Skins. Just happened to run into it tonight while on another errand - skins are $200L each and they are not bad. Lots have red lips and pale skin. So maybe you will like those. Do let us know if you find any skins anywhere that were your cup of tea. Just to hear how it turned out.

It's funny how there are so many "what are the best skins/clothes/boots" threads but I have yet to see a single thread starter say -what type of skins/clothes/boots- they're looking for. There is no "best" skin in SL period. I prefer pale oriental skins since I am oriental, others prefer slightly tanned ones, others prefer anime skins, and the rest prefer oily dark model Caucasian skins. Rarely any shop sells all four types of skins and make them good quality too.

From: Melita Magic Do let us know if you find any skins anywhere that were your cup of tea. Just to hear how it turned out. I've picked up or been sent so many demos and freebies in the past couple weeks that it's going to take me a month at least to sort through them all! *cowers from her inventory* Olila Oh did drop me a skin that I've been wearing lately -- I think she said it was a beta for a line she's working on, but don't hold me to that. I haven't had time to examine it undressed yet, but the face is pretty nice. Not quite what I want for everyday, but good for attending OOC professional events. I think part of my problem is that I did too good a job with the appearance panel as a newbie. So I'm used to working with my own settings, but skin makers aren't using those settings. Whereas folks who threw up their hands at the appearance panel and went with purchased or freebie shapes and skins from the beginning are used to using whatever standards the skinmakers set. The eyebrows for instance -- it's really important to me to get the eyebrows right, even more than the skin tone. And the texture on my newbie eyebrows looks like a stroke of crayon, but the height, fullness, pointiness, etc. are all perfect for me. But they make many skin faces look horribly snotty and arch, and it took me a long time to figure out that that wasn't just the way the skin's eyebrows were painted. With Olila's skin, I was able to go back, make a copy of my hair settings, and adjust it until her eyebrows looked close to what mine should be. But I'm not going to spend the time doing that for every demo I look at. Of course, it doesn't help that I've never understood the RL thing for plucking your eyebrows out and then drawing them back on. I got a lot of compliments as a preteen for my natural Brooke-Shields eyebrows, which I took very much to heart, so I reject all attempts to artificialize them.

Well one of the carts at the Skin Fair had fairly thick eyebrows.
Good luck in your hunt.
