I think there still is too much land for it to be desirable. They made a big mistake adding that huge chunk of un-needed land last april and now they are repeating their mistake.
If you go fishing alone in a huge lake that has no fish in it you will get bored and quit super fast, vs fishing in a smaller lake that is crowded with all sorts of different fishies.. and other people fishing.
from a business perspective LL is probably doing better by collecting more tier as more Land = more Money for them so as long as uninformed people keep playing the land market at microscopic margins this part of the game is no fun.
Unless you are LL.

I've been wanting a full sim at a fair price for a long time, but it took them too long to make it happen. I'm too discouraged now to pay full-sim tier, let alone pay anything at all for the land.

I think that when the move to the Adult continent starts there is going to be a glut of Mature land available. That's going to send the price diving for them. Anybody that buys a full mature sim right now and doesn't offload it quickly is going to take a big loss I think. Add to that how easy it's going to be to sell Mature mainland once the move takes place... is there really the demand for it, no matter what the price? People still have to pay tier on it.
I think that most people that buy land are pretty savvy... for those that aren't, well, caveat emptor and all that stuff.
And yes, LL are doing what they can to make money - selling these now, right before the adult stuff goes into effect should be a sign for us all as to what they think is going to happen to mainland price.
UNLESS, of course, LL give people an idea of whether any Adult stuff put onto this land will be eligible for a free move - they haven't said what the cut-off point is yet. I would take the risk, but I'm relatively conservative when it comes to investments....
