From: Nika Talaj Well, if he's willing shopping together can be lots of fun.
But as you describe him he has a lot of SL building, buying etc. on his plate. So you may want to be sensitive to his time constraints.
Again, and particularly now that he has shown you some of his tastes, I think the best thing you could do would be to actually loosen your own purse strings and buy him some simple things. As you describe it, he is being very generous towards you, buying you things and giving you shelter. Why you in return want to subject him to TPing around after freebies is beyond me.
*shrug* No, I never said he's doing a lot of building and buying. I said he had bought land, and had homes. He's done with that, made himself his little kingdom lol. He's just in now like I am, exploring SL for the most part to entertain himself and has a lot of free time, which is where I come in. He's the one after me *grin* Whenever we're inworld at the same time, he's the one who make the move to get together. And I don't mind "loosening my purse strings" at all. Someone else suggested it and I agreed it would be a nice gesture, but he's also made it clear that he's not the kind of guy who takes things from women. If I do that, it's going to have to be something with meaning, not clothing. He's doing what he's doing because, well, he enjoys my company. And I enjoy his. And isn't that what matters most? And as for subjecting him to tp'ing for freebies; HE'S the one that keeps gleefully talking about all the stuff he got for free! He's into that, so it would be a lark for us, kind of like shopping in a flea market in RL.

*shrug* The first month I was in SL, I spent half my time TPing around after freebies. Loved every second of it.

If you can get him out of freebie mode, BareRose is inexpensive and has lots of options.

From: Elora Lunasea Here here! I mean, doesn't everyone recommend NOT spending any money at first? Isn't that part of the newbie code? Not exactly. If they don't start spending money soon, we'll never get out of this economic slump. Here is the newbie code: 1) Whatever you do, get out of those sandals. 2) NEVER set land for sale to "Anyone" if you mean to sell it to a specific person. 3) Don't buy land until you find an area you love. 4) There are real people controlling these avatars with real feelings. Tread lightly. 5) Go easy on the gestures. That Homer Simpson thing you do isn't as amusing as you think.

6) Anything that fills the entire screen with a particle display is also not as amusing as you think.

If a come on wouldn't work for you in RL, it probably won't work in SL. 9) No one wants to see your naked newbie skin or freebie parts.

Free Dove doesn't have a ton of stuff for guys, but what they do have is pretty good. Definitely worth checking out if He's looking for freebies.
The problem I've run into is guys' shoes. I haven't found a pair that I like for any price, let alone free. The freebie ones I have are just awful. I picked up a cheap pair the other night that are pretty cool, but still, there's just not a ton of great men's clothing that appeals to me. Combine that with my natural dislike for clothes shopping and all the distractions on SL that make me want to go do other things and it can be tough to really get yourself looking sharp.

Have you checked Shiny Things and FNKY? Not cheap, but very nice.

DE Designs has some nice hiking boots for men, and SF Designs (SFD these days?) has an entire men's shoe store with boots, dress shoes, casuals, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry to derail the thread. I didn't take it too far off course, though.
If it's really freebies that the guy wants, then I second Freebie Dungeon and add it to my previous suggestion of Free Dove. Basically, a little messing with search will crop up a number of places. Freebie clothes are easy. Men's shoes are difficult. Hair is impossible, but it sounds like he's got that. Zhao 2 is free and there are some animations here and there that he can get for free and drop into it. If his shape and skin are good, then he's good to go. He can spend the rest of his hard earned L$ on land, toys and Elora.

Wait, I was free too, darn! Maybe I am a slut already? Maybe I don't need to be Trout certified afterall?

Maybe I don't need to be Trout certified afterall? lol - there's an Elora Lunasea box in the men's toys section at Freebie Paradise. You used to be expensive, but then someone with copybot started ripping copies and giving them away. Welcome to SL. In all seriousness, congrats on finding a what sounds like a good guy. Have fun dressing him up, but expect resistance at some point. We can only put up with so much of that before we start looking for a bar.

As someone who just really rather make things myself and isn't into spending more then I have I figured I already spent way too much money on land and tier when I started that I could afford. If he is good with sliders, there is lot of things one can do with proper textures which sometimes are and can be found for free. I did get a incredibly nice men's suit though for 10L in Midnight city. Not sure if the place or maker is still there. There are nice men's outfits out there for under 50l if he doesn't want to make his own textures and clothes. I don't buy or rarely buy clothing or skins either. I rather spend money on uploads, textures and tier. I have to admit I wasted too much on shoes that don't fit my tiny male fit right and look enormous. I decided to stick with sandals. Heck I don't care I just be a ancient newbie cause orginal guy is from 2003

And when that happens, I'll go back to my husband, who does not drink Edit: And before we get on the "morals" bandwagon again - said husband has had his own past online dalliances - so, it's all good. What's good for the gander, is good for the goose in this case. No harm, no "fowl".

I was going to suggest you just spend some money on the guy it will save time. When I was born I had troubles getting Paypal and SL to connect so I spent some time looking for free stuff... I did not find anything I liked. Since then I did find a good free outfit... a friend took me on a tour of Everwind and I got a very good 'Human' outfit there House of Shai also has some nice free stuff, but only the t-shirts work for men. Shiny Things used to have a free pair of men's shoes for members of their group... they might still be there. -d

From: Elora Lunasea Actually - his main explanation for the clothing had to do with the fact that his "family" (he's created an entire family for himself in-world - sometimes runs them off 2 computers so they can be on the screen at the same time, how freaky is that?) is used to seeing him a certain way and so, he forgets when he is with me, that he can dress better lol.
Careful, Elora, some of your readers here may not think this is freaky at all. You might be freaked out if and when he introduces you to his mother, but ..... He may have a shortage of RL family ands SL offers an antidote. Don't knock it. I have several alts for different purposes, different ages, genders and races. - including couples and singles. I can have any two in world at the same time, too. The game has many. many variations.

BTW, they were all very nice to me, especially his mom. We got along quite well and she seems to think I'll be very good for him *grin* BTW - to be serious. I do think it has to do w/lack of family in some part. He mentioned to me that he recently lost a brother to illness and has a sister that disappeared years ago in RL. That thought occured to me immedately when I heard that also, you know, a replacement for what he's lost. As I spend more time in world, things become less unusual to me - kind of like Alice in Wonderland.

From: Elora Lunasea a guy, but bless him he hasn't got fashion sense to save his life yet.
Him and four/fifths the male population in sl.
