One thing I noticed happened with me is I was more likely to crash when I was flying my airplane or otherwise doing a lot of moving. Another constant I noticed was that it would happen when I was passing a group of people using v-chat. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, though, because I did crash in other random cases.
It would make sense to me (not technically savvy in this department, mind you) if it crashed because of all the work the system had to do to properly place the voices in stereo although I really don't know what other new stuff is in the beta system so it could be anything!

SqueezeOne (LOL), the same for me. Walking crashed me; Flying crashed me; sometimes just standing there doing nothing crashed me.

Gillian, when was the last time you downloaded the beta client?
When you go to Help About Second Life, what time does it show following the version info?
It should be a release like this, or later:
Second Life 1.16.0 (1) May 15 2007 18:13:43
There was a release that showed the same version number and had the same filename but an earlier build time.
I suspect you have the proper release but it can't hurt to make sure.
