I can't work out how you get that shape with just the one prim! Very nice.

Beatfox, that is fantastic!

While I'm pretty sure it has to be 2 prims, I can't work out what shape the tip is to get it synched with the base so perfectly... Whatever you did, awesome work!

Edit> Ahh, I got it... Very cool!

It seems that if you have any number of prims that are the same height, they will stay synched(assuming they also have the exact same flexible path properties, too) -

And, fortunately I've cut out the loooooongwinded explaination I was writing here, as a picture says a thousand words:

Logan's got it right. :) I actually used 3 flexiprim "segments" to make for a smoother curvature than just 2 would provide. Also, the very base of the tail is a non-flex cylinder, which helps to keep the tail from passing through my body when I move backwards (it's a bit... odd-looking when that happens).

And of course I've got a twitchy-script to make it move on its own. Heeeee! :D

Thanks for all the compliments!

*cuddles tail and scampers off*

You can't help but love that. Good stuff with the multiple prim tips as well.

Awesome job Beatfox! When I first saw this in game my jaw dropped - one of those great "how the hell?!" Second Life moments. ^_^

Very cool. :D

Inspired me to have a go at making a tail myself. Since I like to show off when I actually finish things ('cause it doesn't happen nearly often enough  ) I'll probably post a vid once I manage to capture one that doesn't crash the encoder.

I did find that they don't always stay aligned though, although setting gravity to zero helps loads.

Wheeeee. Hee hee. I had a similar method of overlapping prims set so that the Saurogryph would have plates on the tail that flex with the tail.... :)

The first bend of the tail is solid, just like BF's... the second is a cone intersected with a tapering thin cube with the spikes texture on it.

Not perfect, since you can't use planar texturing on flexiprims (it goes wacko!) but it is workable. ;D

Very nice! Your movie is crisp and fast! Not choppy and slow. May I ask what you use? And what kind of video card you have?

Thanks!

I used the demo version of Fraps to capture the video, then edited it in Sonic Foundry's Video Forge which I got free/cheap (don't remember which) after rebate at CompUSA several years back. I haven't really looked around at the current editing software available, since I've never actually done much with video creation (this is only the second video I've ever assembled). But somebody in this forum who's more knowledgeable in that area might be able to make some recommendations. :)

Oh, and my video card is a GeForce 6800 GT. Not the fastest available, but pretty darn good for me. :)

Got the encoder sorted eventually, so here it is...

AJ's furlexy tail of doom!

Totally impractical (and poorly textured, I might add), but fun anyway. ;)
