In light of the recent attacks on Hamlet I feel like we should have an "I Love Hamlet Linden" thread.
So, vote with your clicks people! Let's bump up the thread views as high as possible :)
And post something occasionally to bump up the thread ;)

heh

And I thought this was going to be a Shakespear thread. The funny part is, I was thinking about doing some neo-Shakespeare: create scripted objects to help the actors go through the play (shortened and modernized, of course).

I love Hamlet!
08-12-2004 08:21
I've always said that I love Hamlet. He's top on my list of SL celebs that I stalk! And my time in SL is primarily measured by period attempts to talk to him, but having no idea what to say, so coming off like a giddy schoolgirl, and making a fool of myself.

That being said... I've been noticing a trend. Mostly, I discovered it in the early days of NWN's transformation, and by following links to articles written by Hamlet in his RL guise. Correct me if I'm wrong on this... but it seems that in general, Hamlet, and more specifically his RL self, tends to illicit love/hate responses. People tend to either think he's the coolest thing ever, or a total hack with some hidden agenda and evil Illuminati pulling his strings. I frequently ponder why this is... but being lazy, and smitten with the man myself, I haven't followed up on it. :D

But anyway, I'm straying. I clicked here, cuz I love Hamlet! :)

I love Hamlet and if it wasn't for his stories I would not have been as excited as I was about SL when I was a new user.

The first attacks I saw on Hamlet were in his blog, someone had a beef over an article at Salon.com. It was political I think. I could care less about his past work cause he writes great articles about SL than keep me reading until the last line.

I also love Hamlet Linden. He was the first and only Linden that let me shoot him (ingame of course :D).

I have never met Hamlet in world, but I find his articles always an interesting read. I did think the flames he received were unwarranted. But the way he handled them earned my respect.

I might have to join you, Carolyn, in stalking him. But he's rarely in-world, so I'll just go back to stalking my other infatuations here. :D

Yay for Hamlet Linden! I love his writing style and would love to talk to him inworld some time :) He seems so cool and has the best battle cries. I was so bummed to have come into SL *AFTER* the second walk of the world but I think the account really summed up a lot about SL and helped me decide to stick with it.

Well that, and I'm addicted to torturing prims :)

I've had the good fortune to have had several conversations with the good Hamlet, and he graciously wrote an article about the Ivory Tower for which I'm very greatful. I haven't seen any of the flames directed at him, but I'm sad to hear such things are happening.

Hamlet, fear not for the forums are full of balloon juice!

Ooh, we should trade stalking techniques/secrets!

Hamlet's easy to stalk... you just have to come up with "story ideas" periodically.

Now... some other celebrities are harder to stalk... what with all the security, and significant others, and sometimes they have a "crew"... it gets very complicated..

I'd love to see that (hint hint)!

I appreciate all the props hugely, all, thanks. I don't feel under attack by anyone, by the way-- folks have a right to be pissed off by what I write, as they sometimes are, and that's cool, and to be expected. I think the "celebrity" stuff is a bit overblown, though flattering-- it's not like I'm Philip Linden or something. (Or for that matter, say, Baccara Rhodes.)

As a little note, I am in-world a fair amount, about 15-25 hours a week, it's just that it's often totally sporadic. HOWEVER, I am once again trying to have more regular hours-- to wit, M/W/F in the afternoon and the early evening, PST. (Except when I'm on vacation or something, which I will be next week.) So that's the best time to look for me to say Hi or whatever, and even when I'm not online then, I can usually bring my butt in within minutes after getting an IM...

Actually I prefer Twelfth Night.

I've always prefered the comedies to the tragedies..

Read between the lines and find the SL person that corresponds to this play and you get my secret crush in SL.

everyone loves a riddle.

Siggy.
