Of the two egomaniacs, I'm going to go with Nada's design. I don't really like the aesthetics of bbc's is all. Nothing personal.

Ya'll have me laughing so hard I can barely type this! For the record...my vote is... *sounds of crickets chirping*

I voted for: Neither at this point in time.

And BBC, thank you for the kind words, keep it up, I'm starting to be swayed.;)

Sorry Nada, all your ideas are old and stale. by the time your done, they will be obsolete. And I'm afraid I have the upper hand on super secret scripting projects too. Heck, I can;t even reveal one of the last 20 odd scripts I wrote. Even the ones that...well, quiet frankly do what your trying to do.

Your right, I can build enough for 2, and thats 4 times as much as you can build. I didn't actually expect you to step up to the challange - that would mean that people would actually see how unfavorably you compare. Hiding behind weak excuses. I mean - girlfriend you haven't seen in a year? Dude, with your skill with the ladies, I'd trust you more if you said you had to undertake a secret mission to stop a mad man from blowing up the colonies on mars this weekend. Nada with a girlfriend - hah! the oly thing more ludicres is the idea of me with a girlfreind. If this weekend is bad - then fine, the house will go to whoever it does, but I still think the challenge would be fun - even if it scares you. So give me a time when your sister...er I mean girlfreind isn't around, and we'll rumble.

And yeah, gimp is geeky - I used it for the first 9 months of my SL existance. But I like to make good textures, and I find a more complete toolset helps me with that. Of course, gimp, psp, photoshop, or ms paint - I can still skool nada at textures.

oh, and pagemaker is to LaTeX

For the love of friggen Christ guys!

I really don't like to get involved in other people's problems, but now I really just can't help it. Do you two realize how arrogant and competitive you are?! If you could please explain to me what drives you to compete like you do? Can't we all just play together? From what it looks like it all started when BBC was having a bad hair day and got short with Nada, and Nada was short back, natrually. Now, can you guys just put that behind you and get along? You guys are two of the most respected, successful citizens of SL, and you should set a better example than that, both of you.

actually, if you go up to the top, hamlet started it. <points the finger, and like any self respecting american attempts to blame someone else>

clearly our egos are so overly large that we have trouble being in the same sims. mine covers roughly 0.75 sim, while bbc covers rought 1.2sims, which means we can barely survive on two sims, three is better cause bbc has ego flares(look at all his posts, i mean seriously it is like sun flares except it is coming out of his mouth).

I will accept your competition, and i think we should forc tcoz into it as well, since he did challenge the number one builder to a contest. now having accept the challenge, I think the soonest i can pencil you in is three weekneds from now, the 8th of august. this weekend, the gf(i will post pictures of all the fun stuff we do(like going to the tate modern, techno shows... none of that dirty stuff i know you were thinking about, get your mind out of the gutter bbc) just to make you jealous... hmm well it might not make you jealous since you seem to care for you SL more than your FL... do you have an FL, if not where do you get your inspiration from, or do you have any inspiration) and then august first i fly back, so we could do it that weekend, i would be handicapped, but that would probably just make it a fair contest.

oh and by the way, i would rather build one trinket that is a master piece that 4 people worth of the b.s. you produce, sir.

...LaTeX is pretty cool, although it makes me wonder if i should just code it in html, looks to be about the same. not to mention the quote, "...LaTeX encourages authors not to worry too much about the appearance of their documents, but to concentrate on getting the right content." oh, and if you want to add images, it says to see some book, not to bad though. Any other ideas?

Well, I hope you use gimp well, becasue its not going to be easy photoshopping the picture of you with a wig and stuffed shirt into the pic of you normal at the techno show. I recomend the airbrush.

augus 8, ok. lets get the word out, its easy enough for me to humiliate you, but it will be a lot more fun watching the rest of second life humiliate you too.

Ego? I'm afraid you have that wrong. I'm not all that good at SL...I'm just better than you. I do what I can to the best of my ability - my accomplishments are fairly modest.

heh, funny how my stuff is "b.s." have you noticed that a single product I made, and didn't even finish is used more than all the scripts you made in SL combined?

I will let you meditate on your foolishness.

See, you really are too competitive. There is no "build off" that can settle your guy's problem. I'm not going to say "this is a game," because allthough it is, there are very really people behind these avatars, just as Bob Bunderfield once said.

Nada, if you use this as something to get at BBC for, then stop before you even put your hand on the mouse. You could have stopped this a long time ago, and you didn't. Don't even think about saying you couldn't. And don't even think about saying that you can't still.

BBC, apologize. Nada, you too. I don't care if you're perfectly happy fighting like this, the citizens of SL want you to keep it off the forums. Exchange email addresses and fight like that if you want to! We don't want to hear it, frankly Sorry if that sounds harsh, but we all share these forums, and egos aside, you're fighting is rather petty to everyone that doesn't know you, and to me that only expresses selfishness, on both of you. Again, you are both so well respected, it's a shame to see you head to head like this.

BBC notified me of my stupidity only a few mintues before this, but your re enforcement of this new found knowlege is much appreciated. For all of those out there as stupid as I feel now, please view "The Anna Nicole Smith Show" (a.k.a. "I Weigh 90210";) and perhaps you will feel better.

I'm off to see my learning specialist now, cya all later! ;)

While I totally respect Nada and BBC, what I don't understand is if you are talking about building a place for yourself, then why are you asking these two script monkey's to do it for you?

I mean scripting is all good and well, but scripts don't mean diddly if they haven't a aesthetically pleasing home.

What you need Hamlet is someone that knows building, someone that has been sought after time and again for their building prowess, someone that knows how to build and takes pride in their workmanship, someone who offers quality, someone who is asked DAILY to build at least 3 homes for others.

You need, Bob "The Builder" Bunderfeld!

I guess you missed Hamlet's original request, Nada and BBC were the only two entries.

Now this is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

Notice how Nada, disregards the aethetics in his post? He makes it so you actually have to use the scroll bars to read everything.

Just think of what he would do with building you a home Hamlet! I mean if someone doesn't worry about his aesthetics in a simple forum message, how can you expect him to worry about it while building?

Cailyn:

The only reason I wasn't able to submit a proposal was that, unlike people with too much time on their hands, I was busy working on other people's homes.

This shows that I care about what I do. I'm not going to stop building someone's home just to submit a proposal. I care more about the project at hand, then some mythical project in the bush.

This alone should show Hamlet that I'm the best person for the job, because once I start on the job, that job, and that job alone, holds my undivided attention.

Hamlet, all you have to do is ask around, and you will find that I am the Builder you are looking for.

Bob, bob, bob, you dear sweet thing. Its really cute to see you here, but someone should go find your mommy to take you home before you get hurt. I'm glad you have some confidence Bob, but I'm afraid your "building" just has not matured yet. If you keep working hard, and explore your creativity as a builder, given a year, you might be able to compete with nada. It will be a long while before you can catch up with me though.

Buck up kiddo it good to see you trying :-)

BBC, it must be so trying for you to see us "young'ns" pass you so quickly in something like building.

I promise though, out of respect for my elders, I will allow you to keep your dignity and live in the fantasy world built up by your own insecurties.

I only ask that you don't explore too much of Second Life, as I'm afraid seeing my name on all those buildings will only cripple your ability and confidence even more; and I love you enough that I don't want that to happen.

I know how fragile (or senile) you old people get in your dying years, but you must face reality, a new generation is here, and has passed you by. no more will we see houses built out of hollowed out boxes, no more will we see phasing of overlapped walls, no longer will we have to see those ugly lines of objects not meeting up just right.

BBC if you wish though, I would be happy to come over to your domicile one day and try and teach you how to correct all those mistakes you have ingrained into your old mindset. I'm a very patient teacher, and I'm sure I can help you see the light when it comes to building the right way.

Feel free to IM me anytime BBC, as I would hate to see someone of your stature go down in flames because they jsut didn't know when to quit.

Shhhhhhhhh Misnomer! Noooo!

I vote for Nadacuh. Seriously, I love both their proposals and have a funny idea about all this so I can't split myself. Sorry!

And Bob, you MEANIE. <grins> Be nice to the boys, they come across tough but you just know they are sheltering easily bruised egos.

*sigh*

Bob, I was going to give you the benifit of the doubt, but you just don't know when to shut up. I decided to deny you request, and seek out the bub bonderfield houses in Second Life. I found one in kissling - and my first thought was "heh, I won't give a hard time about this - he hasn't finished it yet" But then to my dismay, I noticed that there was a box on the ground...and the house was for sale!!!

*sigh*

I guess maybe _you_ don't know what you are dealing with. I am paritally to blame, as I have gotten rid of a lot of my stuff to work on a themed community project, and no matter what folks say my ego is, I haven't made the world aware of my stuff. Please check out my house or my store. They are not fancy. The house isn't done - its just something I work on now and then to relax.

Take a good look. This is the least of the level you need to be at. I would love to help you get there - as you reminded me, I am getting old, and I need to pass on my knowledge to someone. But until then, you might as well vote for me so Hamlet can have a nice place.

Now, now!

Bob, I appreciate the enthusiasm, surely I do, and I wish you'd sent in a proposal by the deadline MORE THAN EVER, but the thing is, this isn't the California recall election, and we can't write you in like Arnold. MUCH AS WE'D LIKE TO.

The name of this game is BBC or Nada. Fairchild versus Epoch. MANO Y MANO.

And the tally now is, what again? 8 to 3, for Nada? Help me out, folks!

Heh, I challange you to point out a single instance of this in any of my builds. Every primitive in my house is placed exactly how it should be. (except thr kitchen sink, still working on that) In fact, its done so well, its hard to tell how well it is done. Pay close attention to the corners in the house. Note how there is no overlap. notice how the textures all work together. Notice how much you have to work on, young jedi.
