Oh, sorry, thought you meant there were actually comment entries on your blog pages in Japanese. The Shonen Knife website doesn't seem to feel like responding right now. I'll try again later. Meanwhile, "Second Life" would probably be written "セコンヅ ライフ" in Japanese katakana (maybe without the space), or possibly "二番目人生" or "二番の人生" or "二番目生活" or something like that. I would think it would be written in katakana, rather than translated into Japanese, but I could be wrong in that guess. I couldn't find any of the above in a search on the HotWired Japan site ( http://hotwired.goo.ne.jp/) where Wired articles are translated into Japanese, and I know Wired has run plenty of articles about SL. I take it no one in the office speaks or reads Japanese? If you haven't actually tried to market SL in Japan, it's anyone's guess how it's being referred to there. In searching Google just now, I also discovered that the Shonen Knife page is available in English: www.shonenknife.net/eng/index.aspBut unfortunately, the web server doesn't want to show me that page at the moment, either. As I said, I'll try again later. neko

Well, Hamlet, I don't know what to tell you. I got through to the Shonen Knife website today and looked around, but couldn't find any reference to Second Life. Then I tried a Google Advanced Search within the domain shonenknife.net for "second life" or "secondlife" or "セコンヅ ライフ" (sekondo raifu) or "二番" (second), but found nothing for any of these. I found a couple of hits including the character "生" (life) but nothing related to SL or NWN. My best guess is that there's a fan of the band who spends time at their website before popping over to NWN, but I'm not sure if the traffic report you're looking at would lump that together with actual referrals from shonenknife.net.
On the other hand, I spoke to someone last night in SL who knows a Japanese DJ who does streams into SL, including live gigs. Send me a note if you want more info about that.
Sorry,
neko

Thanks much, Neko! The mystery continues. I think you're right that it's probably a fan on the Shonen forum...
