Like the recent Hurricane Katrina and Cancer research fundraisers?

Double edged sword.

So make it no political or commercial advertising. Or just take out the politics first.

Also am I the only one that got that the original post was SARCASM? And yet if enough people try it it may work and force the issue.

Better yet why can't we just vote this guy off the game? I'm sure you could get at least 10,000 votes for offing him.

Then again I saw this on the blotter:

Date: Thursday, February 23, 2006
Violation: Community Standards: Disclosure, First Life
Region: Zale
Description: Sharing alleged RL info.
Action taken: Warning issued.

Isn't this guy sharing Bush's RL info? It is Bush's war. In Real Life. He is sharing it. Or is it because Bush DOESN'T PLAY? And how do we know he doesn't?

Seriously though... He is violating Rule 1 "Actions that marginalize, belittle, or defame individuals or groups inhibit the satisfying exchange of ideas and diminish the Second Life community as whole.". By defaming an individual. Resident or not. Rule 1 doesn't state the person must be a resident.

He is violating Rule 2 "Communicating or behaving in a manner which is offensively coarse, intimidating or threatening, constitutes unwelcome sexual advances or requests for sexual favors, or is otherwise likely to cause annoyance or alarm is Harassment.". The sign is a communication which I and others find offensive and which does cause the annoyance of other residents.

And finally he is violating Rule 6. "Every Resident has a right to live their Second Life. Disrupting scheduled events, repeated transmission of undesired advertising content, the use of repetitive sounds, following or self-spawning items, or other objects that intentionally slow server performance or inhibit another Resident's ability to enjoy Second Life are examples of Disturbing the Peace." With other objects by inhibiting many resident's ability to enjoy Second Life. Why else would they take time to post about it here?

I thought the whole point of Second Life was to ESCAPE Real Life for a while. I'm semi-Okay with the Charity functions but they do remind me of the reality of my own unemployment in South Louisiana as a result of lack of jobs from all the hurricane victims that moved here. However it is for charity. On the other hand, politics have no place here. The little SLExchange cards and boxes that you see here and there are at least small and obscure. But that's a topic for another day.
