I had a similar problem with signage popping up in land next to my store... long story shortened... the guy who owned that land couldn't find a way to get the price he wanted, offered it to me (and I didn't need it) so decided to sell it as 'prim land'. Tiny plots sprouted up with all sorts of things... signs mostly... then a vendor that the owner has not quieted down (obviously unable to connect the message and landmark I sent to him after asking him to do so)... then a skybox... then an adult club sign...
My shops *are* eyesores, but I consider them to be both artistic and worth any builder's time and effort to look at and examine. So, what do I do? I spend much time and effort, of which I have little left these days, getting that shop up and running. I refuse to move... my money investment is small but my time investment is large and that matters to me. Then the thought ocurred to me...
My futzy big prim! The poor thing had been sitting in my prim library for months after discovery, a nice thing to show, but totally useless... until now... I really, really didn't like having an adult club sign next to my artistic and abstract designs. But a futzy big prim, or in this case a few of them, totally cuts off the view in that direction. The scripts I put in are all client-side and the texture on my side is a pleasant swirling gold. I consider the swirling alpha spirals to be eye catching on the opposite side and heavily distracting from even the adult signage. The prims are phantom, of course, so as not to impede flight... and anyone coming in from *the other side* can see my shop behind the big prims.
I get an end to an eyesore... and the other side? 'Fences make good neighbors'
It is *artwork*. It pleases my eye, at least and does not advertise, espouse political views or otherwise do anything except look pleasant.
And anyone wanting higher signs gets into the cloudbank... and will be next to the skybox.
Time spent: 30 minutes Prims used: 8 Cutting off an eyesore: PRICELESS
Enjoy!

From: someone The simplest answer to all this... Ban ALL real life related Advertising of anykind exception being the Second Life ones. This will stop political and other types of unrelated to SL problems. You can have total free speach in SL . After all? Bush doesnt live here does he? So why should campaigns for or against him? Exactly. And forget about whether or not the land is for sale.

Bush

Having two of the bush signs next to my game property has proved problematic for me as my game name is Lazzerio and Lazarus is putting up the signs. I've been bitched at three times already at my property because of proximity and the name Laz... So as my little form of protest I've carved out a small piece of land 512 the free piece, sold the rest and reduced my land tier to a big fat ZERO. Thanks Lindens for allowing some clown to take money from you and alienate a customer. I wasn't aware GWB was playing the game... put the signs next to his property so he can see them. To those who support Lazarus Divine... ah what's the point... stupid is as stupid does.

From: Khamon Fate Noone's figured out how to hurt this person. Ignore him. It may not be very satisfying nor easy or even something that will work quickly but it is the weapon you have had since the beginning. It does take a little practice to use correctly and works best when employed by large groups.

You may also find talking to other people and acting like a community gets few random small plots of land sold to people you do not like.
I know, I know; more responsibility for you. Doesn't it suck that no matter what number the life that still managed to sneak in?

Perhaps someone could try giving Laz some better looking sign textures at least that aren't so ugly.

I remember some years back a fellow in Michigan went around cutting down ugly billboards along the highways with a chainsaw. Could we just get someone to design a working chainsaw?

My experience with the signs
01-13-2006 13:51
I can't speake for the rest of you, nor would I want to, but I noticed one of these signs in proximity of my land, I went over to check it out and noticed that is was on a 512M plot, not the 16M you folks are speaking of, and also it was selling at below market value, needless to say I jumped all over it, got rid of the sign and added prims for my park. I personnally have been ignoring these signs for the most part, probably because my neighbors are pretty static, not much land selling. I, for one, hope it stays that way.

I like every one eles feeling the pain of the bush signs. I own 8704 m of land Set it up as a nice country home. Waterfall creek Home the works thin comes this huge sign. With out saying a word i just raised small part of my land and set up few huge trees to block it as my land is on the edge of the sim no one or nothing other side of me to see the signs. With this he comes back and raises the signs above the trees i set out. I ask again is this abuse of some sort or not? Iam not blocking thim from anyone but my self And he is forceing me to see this. Now i do feel he has the right to do what he wants with his land all thou strang to me lol but i do feel somthing has to be done as like a ordance as how big and how far off the ground they can be To me this would be more thin far

He does it cause he knows he can, and he has the Lindens blessing to do it. Someone called it classic passive-agressive behavior. I guess we could call it a new phenomenon: Passive-agressive griefing.

I was visiting the Linden headquarters, recruiting office etc. in Waterhead yesterday. I took the balloon tour and it was a very beautiful area. But something was missing... something that I have gotten used to seeing in other areas of SL. What was it? I couldn't put my finger on it. Something big, and blue, with big letters on it maybe? For some reason there was none of that to be seen.
Isn't that just what the Linden village needs? Let their little park be affected just like the rest of SL is. Then when they bring in potential investors or business partners they can see what SL is really like, and not a sanitized Disneyland version.
I challenge the Lindens to sell Mr. Impeach Bush a nice 4x4 plot right in the middle of the Linden village. If they believe in free speech so much, why not take a dose of the medicine they are forcing down the throats of their customers?
