Yesterday I came across a very startling discovery at 466 meters in the sky: An entire platform robbing my development of 100+ prims! Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?

In cases like this, I use the DELETE option instead of the more polite RETURN. A stray prim, or even 5-6 ending up on my land is one thing.
Takes someone time and determination to build something up in the sky above your land. They did it on purpose.

I frequently check my "about land, objects" feature to see if there are any stray prims belonging to others. If there is a bunch (rare) I will try to track them down and see what they are and decide to return or delete them. If just a few, I usually just return them if I dont know what they are. Its just one of those things you have to do.

I logged in one day to find 115 prims of something floating so high over my land I couldn't even get to it. I just returned 'em.

I usually will return a vehicle if I find it, but random plywood prims just get deleted. I check my Objects often.

fen- I've noticed this going on, intentionally or unintentionally, over Linden land. The Lindens really need to set their all of their "unmaintained" land to autoreturn after 60 - 120 minutes (not 1 or 5 minutes please. It sucks to be somewhere in a vehicle, crash, then come back online 5 ot 10 minutes later to find your vehicle is gone).

I also find alot of stuff in Venice, thats not a big deal, they get returned. Its good that noobs are enjoying Venice. But builds to high to reach and all those lost objects underneath are are a real P.I.T.A.
Venice being a group project, we have to search and return or delete object by object. ugh.

fen- Why don't you set the group name on each and every object (no need to share with group unless you want everybody in the group to be able to mdoify it), and then turn on autoreturn on your land? If the land is group land, this will automatically work. If the land is owned by a single avatar, then setting the group name of the land will do the same thing. This is how we manage prims and land at the University of Second Life, with the autoreturn set to 720mins (12 hours) so that people can build and have their items autocleaned, but Instructors can leave their builds there semi-permanently until they are manually deleted. Note: only problem is you have to pay attention to setting the group name on each object, or you get a nasty returned-object suprise.

We've got 5853 prims used, I think its easier to just clean up the litter then to switch it over. Idealy we should have started like that.

From: someone Aaron said... I use the DELETE option instead of the more polite RETURN. The politeness factor of these two vary. If you find 100 unlinked objects, it can be cool to return that mess to the culprits inventory and let them sort it all out. Deleting it can sometimes be considered a favor.

Alexander Martov Owner/Operator Castle Hyde Park/Club Knight/Marquis de Sade Adult Shop Developer/Manager CloudHaven and CloudHaven Plaza i've found three or so such platforms in the last month on my property or my friends' properties. seems some people think that the air space above land is not owned. i'm not being sarcastic here. some people seem to think airspace is no man's land wrt prims.

It would be ok to set all of the objects to a group, however, I am only the developer of the property and not the owner. Also, I am at my max groups (Lindens need to remove the cap on groups).
It was just very surprising to find that platform up there.

Yesterday I had a convo with a very very new player, they wanted to put up a house and had little idea about the effects that building over someones place had.
They didn't realise that by building a home effects that lots prim limits - that by doing so would use resources the owner of the land is actually paying for..
That building over someone elses land is not ok, and would probably get you neg rated..
Don't know if it had much effect -- but education could be an issue here too.
Siggy.

Hmm
I just purchased some land as a prim farm for a friend...
went to visit it and saw someone setting up a shop LOL
I did not mind but when I asked he said he uses other peoples land that is not being used.
He did not realise the prim could be feeding another build in the same sim.
But I thought it funny to see him going from plot to plot of his neighbours and buiilding things.
He spoke of one neighbour who has heaps of land and we checked the plot and there wewre 800 prims available....
so i built ahuge apartment complex for fun..and at that moment the owner came along LOL
I was going to instantly delete anyway..just having fun..luckily she is not a builder and saw the fun......

Could possibly have been the same person Dags For fun I used to TP some of my friends places, and they mine. Like the old school prank of showering a persons house in toilet paper - only less malicious... ask Misty about the time I 'fumigated' her house... or when they decorated Al Qadim in Xmas lights. I think I made someones snowman 'anatomically correct' once too. All in good fun, and of course we all knew each other. Siggy.

It hasn't happened to me, probably because I keep my land near the prim limit. However, two parcels near mine seem to have squatters. I wish the owners of the land would come online and either clean up the garbage in my view, or sell the land to me and let me do the job -- I've IM'd offers to purchase the land.
Any suggestions on what to do about land owned by someone who hasn't been online in three months?

I may be guilty of putting stuff on other's land! Some times I have items that I can't deleted. Have not idea why. The other day I was working on a house and need a piece from another house, so I unlinked it and got what I needed. Three pieces of the unlinked house would not delete, so I set the x axis in Object/Position to 1 and away it went. I figured it would be returned to my Lost & Found when I logged out. I have done that a few times over the past month. Does anyone know why items will not delete? Sorry if my building material has ended up on your land! I'll try to find another way to do it!

They are probably ghosted. Not really there. You can see them, and even move them. They will disapeer upon relog.

I was living in an SL apartment. The apartment was deleted and some of my stuff was returned to my inventory. My living room set, however, was not. It is no where to be found. I checked every folder I have. Am I just S.O.L.?

Sorry if my building material has ended up on your land! I'll try to find another way to do it! Beaux, I found out from a building class I attended (Cutter Rubio or Taun Patel) that if you edit the Z axis instead, just set it to something really high (I use "9000" . This will send it so high that it de-rezzes from the world, and by sending is straight up its vertical axis, you keep it within the same parcel (presumably your own) that you are building in. I use this whenever an object seems to have "ghosted" and will not delete from my view.
