Well, Mr. Spork,

I did what u said to do and moved my bandwidth limiter to 50 from 500. Wow, do I have great fps now for the first time on my Macbook Pro! I get 35 in quiet area's and 20-30 in others. It runs sooo much better.

Thank you for posting that info in this thread or I might not have seen it.

It's not universal. If you have a machine that can process the full bandwidth (any dual G5 qualifies as well as most PCs), then you'll have no problem. For the rest of us, the problem is that we can no longer limit the bandwidth.

LL defined this as a "problem with low end video cards". The reality is any machine that can't handle the full bandwidth is affected.

I'm not sure it is about speed (or even if these problems are related), but on my iMac Intel (dual 2.0/core duo) w/2GB is stutters and becomes unusuable over time.

On the -exact same literal physical machine-, running Windows XP via BootCamp... I have no issues at all. It is silky smooth.

Obviously, there's a bug (or bugs) left to fix in the client. I hope next Wed's update fixes things, so Idon't have to boot into Windows anymore.

Linden is working hard on fixes, and that's very much appreciated! However nothing I have seen indicates they have even identified the problem I am having with the progressively worse stuttering over time.

(Correct me Linden if I am wrong) =)

Spork, thank you for defining the problem.

I sent many descriptions to SL without an answer. Brent's acknowledgment here is the first official response and validation I've seen. But your description has helped immensely with getting me back playable again. It is by no means back where it was but I was able to fine tune the settings to compensate. I would hope that SL gets on the ball to fix this.
