Or to be able to turn on the IM to e-mail link for my account, so I would have some way to communicate with my customers... If you goto your account you can do this from the website!!!

Kudos to everyone

For making the best of a bad sitaution and practicing a little acceptance. Also, Thanks for making me laugh with the great posts!
I saw the new SL sunset tonight and the glowing light from a green candle on a friend's computer. I think you will find it will be worth the wait once we get in.
Thanks for trying your best, Brent. That's all we can ask!

Please don't kill me. Im not gonna kill you.... much! just kidding, gallows humor to defray my frustration.

For those with Intel Macs.. you can always boot to Windows and run the new version SL there, which runs like a dream!
But I hate windows! =) Looking forward to the fixed binary.

From: ryan00 Odets If you goto your account you can do this from the website!!! No, as far as I can tell, that only allows you to get e-mails to notify you that someone in the forum used the forum's private message system to contact you. I see no settings anywhere in the Forum user CP that allow you to change the setting for receiving e-mail notification of in-world IM's, which is what I wanted.

05-26-2006 08:19
Being all of us of poor mac OS 10.3.9 ers are the only ones being locked out, loosing time, pleasure AND MONEY (Lindens and real money for most)!!! I suggest we be compensated for our loses. Just an idea I am throwing around, tell me what you all think.

Yeah, its there, from a Forum page, go to "Support", "My Account" and "Email Settings". You won't find it in the Forum User CP settings. Its odd tho, when the Email Settings page opens up the the box is blank next to [ ] I would like to receive offline IMs via Email Check it then click "Save" and the page refreshes, and the box is blank again. That is the wierd part, that the box is blank/unchecked after saving it.

Hey, Brent? Drake here from the Linux side. Is the Mac client update and the Linux client update going to be at the same time? We haven't heard from Karen or Don about the Linux client for several months, and we too are locked out (although we can work around it with Wine and emulate a Windows box -- it's just not as fast).

Thank you for keeping us posted Brent.
05-26-2006 08:47
Brent, I appreciate your efforts in keeping us updated. at least we know you are working on the problem and share out pain. Looking forward to the update. I somehow missed the post yesterday saying it wouldn't come until Friday noon, I should have read all the posts more carefully. Kept coming in looking for a new one on the notices page. See you all later, hopefully in SL.

Please don't kill me. The message in the "Known Issues" forum is misleading and probably should be updated to match this.

Noon is coming soon... is the new candidate working?
05-26-2006 10:52
Noon is coming soon... is the new candidate working? I would like to know sooner than later. Thanking you in advance for a prompt response and for the work you are doing Brent and others... cuz I DO appreciate the fact you guys make SL available to Mac users, maybe we are indeed a small share of the market but we are a passionate and creative part of the market.
About the compensation post I made, I realize it DOES NOT HAVE TO BE DONE... they are not obliged to give us anything... I understood that from the start, but I thought it would appease some minds to be compensated for the lost time and business on top of being a nice gesture on their part... just a clarification.

I had not noticed that before! *Looks at watch, taps paw on ground, and swats mosquitoes in her back yard while waiting for the promised update...*

Yay! No lynching Brent!

Second Life 1.10.0.34 is now available for download. Please note that if you are on Mac OS X 10.3.9 you must download this client at http://secondlife.com/download ... the auto updater will probably not work. Please see this thread for more information.

Yay and Nay
05-26-2006 12:19
Yay for 10.3.9 users... they can play now!
Nay for everyone else?....
Unfortunately, this new release did not fix the progressively worse stuttering/CPU spiking that I described in earlier threads.
Use the client for a while on an intel iMac (which is what I am using), and eventually it will start to stutter to the point of unusuable.
I have 2GB of RAM, and am at my house in Tawny with no people present but me. Light on/off makes no difference...
... just start editing things and it slows up pretty bad =(
Not at all a problem on the Windows client using the -same machine- with BootCamp.

Well, I haven't had more than a couple of minutes in-world to test the new Mac client, so it may well still have serious bugs. But just being able to get in at all is like breathing again after being stuck under water!
From the other reports I have read in the Forums, I would say they have several major bugs yet to stomp on. Time will tell.

The bug I am talking about is not logging in... it is the stuttering/CPU spiking that progressively leads to completely unable to play conditions.
See my other posts. =)
