As you know several early Mac SL'ers specifically upgraded our OSX system software to run SL and now we have the first major OSX rewrite and we need more info from you.
Thanks.

As you know several early Mac SL'ers specifically upgraded our OSX system software to run SL and now we have the first major OSX rewrite and we need more info from you. Thanks. ![]() I asked the question yesterday at the Tech Town Hall Meeting and as Catherine said, Cory said it works fine. I specifically asked if the SL Techies had tried SL on Tiger and his reply was that they had ran SL on Tiger and it worked the same as it does now. We'll find out tomorrow. I'll find out Sunday when I pick up my Dual 2gig Processor Powermac with 1gig front side bus and 512 megs of ram and Dual Super drive. Man I can't wait! _____________________

Thank you Catherine and April. April - color me envyGreen. ![]() I am so excited I can hardly sleep at night. I keep going to the Apple site and looking at the specs. 128megs of video ram, wow!!! I am being so extra careful about everything. I watch the the traffic when I cross the street. I keep thinking please don't let anything happen to me before Sun. I've already called the Apple store and they are holding one for me. But I can't get there until Sun. This thing should scream when running SL. I can't wait. _____________________

Hi April,
I don't think I can change any setting of appearance. This may be Safari2.0's trouble. I try to change color to see which I can see. Black Green Yellow Red White Edit: ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not sure what the fact is... _____________________

That's weird, I thought Safari 2.0 passed a bunch of stringent web standards tests? So is the software this Forum runs on not compliant?

Hi PetGirl and DNA,
Now I'm using FireFox ![]() Thank you. However, I've not encounterd this problem of Safari except here yet. ![]() Though I'm looking forward to the next update of Safari, I can't report this to Apple because of members only here. ![]() _____________________

Mac OS X 10.4
04-30-2005 07:43
Looks like some Mac Users have been successful with installing Tiger and running SL. Did you do a clean install with a HD erase, or the upgrade from 10.3.x to 10.4 option?
Sitting here looking at the OS Tiger box and debating whether to plunge ahead or wait a couple of days. Thanks.. |

'04, that there were difficulties with Safari's colors, and only here, and I was convinced then, and continue so, that the situation is only here - I have not experienced this problem anywhere else. Maybe LL will spend some resources looking into this re: Safari 2, because after-all they are Apple certified developers...Right? And after-all, if Second Life is bundled with TIGER, then they will need to fix this situation. Right? _/_/ ![]() _____________________

I'm not sure what the forum color issue is.. I think it has to do with Safari 2.0 having a bunch of Core Image backed rendering instead of the old way. It rendered fine in Safari 1.3 (in the 10.3.9 update) which uses the same rendering engine as Safari 2.0 but doesn't have any of the network or Core Image enhancements.
As for SL itself it seemed to run fine (other than the usual slow prime time logins) on my new dual 2.0 G5. _____________________

I made a user stylesheet snippet that will allow the forums to be readable until LL gets around to fixing them; though I kind of like the white background I gave better.

Mac OS 10.4 Compatibility
05-03-2005 05:08
I have been on Mac 10.4 for two days now. Bottom line, this is was the easiest new OS install ever - Mac or Windoze.
Absolutely no problems with SL and Sarfari runs great, including the background and text color in Forums. How many people opted for the "Upgrade" Option for their install of 10.4? Please note that I backed-up my files and folders and then totally wiped my HD in order to have only OS 10.4 on the HD. I had noted that the last OS update, 10.3.9, seemed to have some some bugs - particularly with Safari. I had orginally installed like version 10.2 and had all of those updates files (and and probably bugs) in my OS and wanted to start totally fresh. Plus, I wonder if there are potential problems with the Upgrade Option. 10.4 is ALL new and is now 64-bit native. 10.3 and subsequent updates were not. Anyway, installed Office for Mac yesterday. Rebooted and ran SL. Everthing still OK. Then installed iLife and rebooted. Still great. NOTE: There are posts on the Apple website Support Discussions forum for Mac OS 10.3.9 regarding problems with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and that last OS update. I have not installed Adobe Acrobat yet. I will go back to Adobe 6.0, which ran fine. Hope this helps..... |

If you're still getting the blinding blue background, try refreshing or clearing your cache. If the problem still persists, drop a line in this thread. -B-diddle in this thread he said the above: /164/24/44831/1.html I keep imagining Bub is some mechanic type guy in a pair of greasy overalls and a John Deer hat. _____________________
