I decided to run 11.4.1 again to see if I could find where the crash/freeze happens. So far, no crashes, but I did notice this in Console:

/snip
2007-04-06 14:06:56.849 Second Life[413] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x2e262740 of class NSView autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking
/end snip

Applications/Utilities/Activity Viewer

one other poster asked about the Console- it can be helpful in tracking memory issues too.

well...I had the freeze three times and always checked the console. There was never a single entry about this event. In my opinion OS X doesnt notice that SL crashed it, because it isn't crashed for real. I mean, that this bug causes something, that forces us to reboot, because we can't quit SL any longer. Normally this bug should make SL to crash, but not OS X...

ok...tonight the first look viewer, I recommended a few posts ago gave me a Kernel Panic. So my advice to all: install 13.3.2 till Linden releases a new SL version...

It may be any MBP that can freeze
04-11-2007 14:57
My machine has had the screen freeze now, twice in the past two days. My wife has reverted to 13.2 and is not experiencing this problem any more. In both cases I was in very busy sims. I believe the graphics processor hangs, but the main processor continues to run which might be why the sound continues to work. In any event, whatever it is I now believe it may affect all MBPs, at least those of my generation (the original).

Is there any word from Linden or the beta of 14.1 yet? Is this fixed/fixable without ATI help?

1.14.1.2 fixes this?
04-14-2007 03:54
There's this cryptic notes in the release notes for 1.14.1.2
"Fixed a client crash with some mobile ATI chipsets"
that suggests this is fixed. It had better be, SL will be essentially unusable for my wife if she's forced to update to this release and it hasn't been fixed. Anyone know for sure?

tried 1.14.2 no problems

I tried out 1.14.2 this morning, no problems. I only used it for 1/2 hour, but it would be good to hear from others. MacBook Pro OSX 10.4.9.

I would definetly suggest loading 1.13 again. I just got my MacBook Pro and SL started doing the freeze crash...well it was one time to many and I had to completely erase and reinstall everything to get my computer back up.

I loaded 1.13 back and everything has been good so far.

I tried out the 1.15 Beta today, no problems in abut 45 minutes. I have also been using the Voice Beta 1.14.112 which has the same bug fixes including "* Fixed a client crash with some mobile ATI chipsets". Fingers crossed!

I am still having the "lockup" crash (Macbook Pro needs a restart), but not as often as with 1.14. Anyone else?
