Throughout history, the powers that be have established certain protocols (e.g. Knighting) for recognizing efforts that go "above and beyond" the call of duty.
I think it goes without saying that loved or hated, Ulrika Zugzag stands over SL's political arena like a Collossus. She practically single handedly established the field.
In this spirit, I think it would be nice (and well deserved) for LL to recognize her significant contributions to all Av-kind in a public knighting ceremony presided over by King Phillip Linden himself.
Also, establishing an honorary order of Knights would give much deserved recognition and thanks to those citizens who have tirelessly campaigned to improve the [virtual] world in which we all live.
So, to those of you interested in make this happen, lets all get together and lobby the Lindens to bestow this unprecedented honor on such a deserving avatar - Ulrika.
Please show your support here and/or IM me in world so we can strategize how to make this dream a reality.

I will refrain from commenting on the suitability or otherwise of this person being honoured in this way. But need to point out that women are never knighted. They are instead made a Dame (not the American sort). Sorry to burst your bubble Alexa

However, I think we should make her Queen of SecondLife.

Well gosh, thanks for the nomination! It seems like just like yesterday I was being chased across the countryside with torches and pitchforks. Ah, good times. Regardless of my qualifications for such an honor, I agree that a formalized method to provide recognition to citizens who have contributed to the virtual world would be a great thing. Especially for those who contribute in such a way that standard forms or rewards, such as dwell, developer's incentives, ratings, and money, don't apply. Great suggestion. ~Ulrika~

I'd also like to point out that radicals, lefties and even some members of Tony Blair's Labour Party (!) have turned down such as honour as they are given by the Queen. I don't see our Ulrika being awarded by the establishment any time soon

I think we ought to create the "Charlie Chaplin Great Dictator Award" for Ulrika. And the trophy would be an inflatable balloon-globe of Second Life that she could kick around with her jack-boots, while striking animated poses. And a plaque, of course, with words inscribed from the final speech of Chaplin's film: Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give you the future and old age and security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie. They do not fulfil their promise, they never will. Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise. Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.
Soldiers - in the name of democracy, let us all unite!
Look up! Look up! The clouds are lifting - the sun is breaking through. We are coming out of the darkness into the light. We are coming into a new world. A kind new world where men will rise above their hate and brutality.

It's funny, I don't really know politics, what I know Ulrika most for are the chicken hats, fachwerks, and her freebie animation pack (which I acquired when I was new). I'd have to congratulate her for that though.

I say if the Lindens won't Knight her, we all get together and throw her a special event in which the citizentry of SL bestow the honor. We can use my land, if needed (though its not that big, only 2,04 . Anyone else want to volunteer a bigger plot?

Seriously though, no special honor is necessary. I am just one of many folks who are currently contributing to or have contributed to the growing political scene in SL. I just happen to have higher visibility because I'm a forum beastie. ~Ulrika~

I'm surprised Ulrika hasn't downed this thread as a chauvanist notion. *G*

The Lindens did not rule out this honor... see this thread: /invalid_link.htmlThough we may need to change the "title" it seems as if they are willing to convey some sort of special recognition upon Ulrika.

This thread is off topic and should be moved to a more appropriate forum, most likely the Notices and Well Wishes forum where messages of thanks or congratulations to specific residents belong.

I could be wrong but it sounded like Ben was trying to say no, but politely! I suspect Linden Lab would prefer to keep their nose out of these kinds of scenarios. However, this shouldn't stop YOU from setting up some kind of committee for the purpose of bestowing well deserved recognition onto Second Life citizens. To make honors given by such a panel worth their weight in prims you would have to make some careful organizational decisions. 1. You must convince the population at large that your award really DOES represent excellence. 2. You must convince SL's population that the process of earning your award is free of politics (the bad kind), bias, bribery, and favoritism. 3. I would recommend giving out a well crafted trophy or medal. Think the "Nobel Foundation of SL"! Your organization wouldn't pull much weight at first, but if you play your cards right as time goes on it could begin to earn the respect and attention of the general population.

Hey!
I own a castle - I'd be more than happy to make a swing at Ulrika's neck with a sword!
*coughs* Err....take that however you'd like.
Though as a minor feudal capitalistic overlord (ie, defeated my enemies by buying them out), all positions of knighthood require three semi-nude photos, a dinner date, and/or a pretty sister. It's my kingdom, I'll have my harem....errr....'knighthood'...as I wish!
