I enjoy FPS combat in Second Life, but even if two "Governments" did arise, they'd need something to fight over.

and something to fight over. maybe Linden could make a public damage enabled sim and let users fight for ownership weekly or biweekly like one of those other mmorpgs. or someone could buy land and do it themself and make $$$.
