Oy.

I think the big concern when this forum was created was the thought that this forum was intended as a pulpit for the advocates of an overarching player-run goverment (over all players) to be discussed and formed.

Since then, the Lindens have clearly stated such a thing is not going to be happening in the foreseeable future, and after the initial flare-up, the commotion mostly died down.

In that context:

From: someone

a) who the hell do you think you are?
and
b) mind your own *%@£* business!

A. She is concerned resident of SL who does not wish to have some player-lead government telling her what to do. I'm 100% with her in this sentiment.

B. In that context it IS her business. IF this forum was about over-arching player-run government, it would be EVERYONE's concern.... and I'd still be here passing the ammunition on a daily basis.

BUT its not. It's about the possible implimentations of government on the group level. Opt-in government. This I whole-heartedly support.

I would like to point out that this thread is old and obsolete, and bumping old tired dead expired threads that you disagree with is not necessarily the most effective method of expressing your own viewpoints. It might be a lot more effective in getting your own points across to let the old thread lie dormant, and start a thread or two of your own expressing your own views on some issues. By posting additional threads, you not only get to state yours views in a fresh venue, unsullied (briefly) by the words of those with whom you disagree, you also push the thread with which you disagree farther into the dustbin of history.

In real life we already have a disgusting system of bullies harping on us one each others behalf. SL is (almost) a free market of ideas and economics. It is inherently libertarian. Keep your friggin' town halls to yourself. :-P

Of course, I'll defend your right to say whatever statist goop you want with my pixely little life. Just don't expect everyone to listen to your current views on dialectical materialism when people are happily paying a monthly fee to participate in the conversation! You'll have just as much luck declaring SL a commune and attempting to storm the walls of Linden Labs to liberate the proletariot. (There would be nothing left but Goth AV's and poetry as far as the eye could see. *shudder*)

Having said that I propose an ordinance to keep grass below eight inches. If you don't mow your pixel lawn, our civil protectors we be visiting with baseball bats. Also, I'm poor, give me a dollar.
