Count, that is part of the wand collection and it was no transfer.

Are you sure it was _only_ part of the wand? I saw one for sale a few months ago but he wanted L$75k for it - a bit steep for me, especially with all the inventory problems at the time...

And, if anybody happens to have Fountain Girl or Drowned for sale, I might be quite interested in them.

Pathfinder has had one of these rezzed in Borrowdale for years.

I think that's the sim anyway. You can see it from the back of Waterhead Welcome Area.

I wonder if he would sell out for any amount. =D

There's also one in the Louvre and a couple that are sorta guarding a waterway up on the NW coast of the right part of the southern continent.. If that makes sense.. :) It's a cool effect and, IIRC, the owner has a couple Starax whales swimming between them.

completely off topic, but I haven't heard it mentioned in the forums yet. It seems Starax is back, in fact he's been around all along on his alt Light Waves. :) It's now public info ;)

Been one of those things a lot of people knew for a while, but was kept quiet out of respect for the guy. I was acrually surprised to see the names linked publicly the other day. :-)

/me knows this spot. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Hyeonjeong/249/154/23

For those that don't know this statue, you can get an idea of the scale by looking for me sitting on the base of the right hand one..

Yer welcome.

They're not for sale - don't get your hopes up too, too high. There's also a dolphin around the area and a Thing-in-a-crate or two on the docks. Nice area.

I had actually already done a google search when I asked the question. I know quite a bit about how temp-rez broke it at one time, how much one pays for it, whether this or that blogger was disappointed or thrilled. I'm sure the answer to the simple question "What is it?" is in there somewhere ...

Oh, well I guess my time is just worth SOOOO much less than that of the 4 or so people reading this thread who could have answered the question in 2 minutes.

/me begins to see why people were eager to believe the FIC tales.

Really?

/me tries the link and very quickly comes up with...

Last night one of my biggest wishes in SL came true. Bethy let me play with Starax’s Wand, an almost-mythical toy in Second Life. At the time it was one of the most expensive items you could buy in game, and, in my opinion, the item that most took advantage of everything that makes SL special and creative. Then, apaprently because of difficulties with Linden Labs, Starax left SL last June and you couldn’t get the wand anymore.

The Wand basically listens to what you say, and then rezzes items/sculptures/animations in response to over 150 words. Starax’s sense of whimsy and humor make trying to guess what will happen a blast.

And there's even pictures and a slideshow..

Aww.. Poor thing.

Maybe you should have asked more than just "What is the Starax wand?" if you already knew what it was...

Thanks, Meade. I didn't find that one when I searched. The things I read had little to say about what it did.

It's the 3rd hit (2nd unique site) on google.

Thank Sindy - she's the one that provided the link.

out of respect for....?...the artist?..

So a guy leaves SL...and his stuff becomes super popular because people cant buy it?

I know that happens with artists that die..but he's still around.

That or his stuff is super popular because he's a super good builder..

/me is still looking for Fountain Girl, BTW. Just in case somebody happens to have one gathering dust..

His stuff was good in 06. I've seen alot better since then..anyone checked Pumpkin Tripsas work?.. His line of mermaids and merman are outstanding. All of Staraxes work was regular primd stuff..Lightwaves sculpty work is "good" but there are better out there.

I went to Staraxes store in avalon when i had enough money to buy something..and it was gone..since then hes not even selling to the public...or is he ?

I'm not knocking the mans skill but this technique of being mysterious and magical..hidden in the shadows behind alts names..while people buy into this and pay tons of money for statues that now are "common";(as far as talent goes) just wears on my nerves. I never really bought into the whole "socially inept genius idiot savant" thing that a few of SLs creators like to adopt into their avatars persona.
