I didn't leave over anything Ulrika said or did --and Ulrika didn't leave over anything I said or did. We co-founded Neualtenburg together and we both had our own reasons at the time for leaving. Even so -- you never heard of bestfriends having quarrels?

I checked my Gmail account today only to find half a dozen emails with links pointing to this thread. I thought I'd reply to those who sent me email collectively in the forum, to save some time and to dispel rumors about this new phase in my Second Life to a general audience. First though, I wanted to tell you, Phoenix, that I appreciate the humorous reference to Saturday Night Live above. From this time forward, as I read your posts, I'll be imagining Chevy Chase delivering the dialogue in his unique dead-pan style.

Here's the way it is:

1. I do not plan to return to the forums as a regular poster and I imagine it will be another couple of months before I post again. I need to focus on my family at this very important juncture in my life.
   
2. I am not posting in these forums as an alt in any way.
   
3. I have not accepted a position at Linden Labs.
   
4. I do lurk in the forums and pop in to read threads about once a week, because I miss all of you quite a lot.
   
5. Kendra and I are best pals forever and the simultaneity of our N'burg departure ultimatums (hers retracted) was by chance.

So, to reiterate, I left as I have several family obligations to fulfill, such as stabilizing ourselves financially, planning for our long-term financial and educational future, and moving into a neighborhood suitable for a new child. My addiction to SL (in world and in forum) was interfering with these obligations. If I manage to meet my family obligations, there is a chance that you'll see me around again in a few months (6 to , albeit in a different role.


Also, since the topic is white hot right now, I wanted to state that I had an abortion several years ago in the form of an oral drug administered several weeks after conception. The pregnancy came at a stage in our lives when we were still working our way through school. At that time it would have disrupted our long-term plans significantly. As a couple we chose to terminate the pregnancy, waiting to be parents when we had achieved our educational goals. It was truly a wise decision, as now we are educated and affluent, living in our dream city (San Francisco) with a beautiful daughter we can afford to raise without compromise. I have no residual emotional feelings concerning the procedure, as it involved sloughing off the uterine lining and the then-pea-sized embryo with it. It was much like a heavy period or like an early-term spontaneous abortion that often occurs naturally without a woman's knowledge.

Within the first trimester, an abortion is acceptable for all reasons, including convenience. It is not the place of the State to legislate and enforce personal life choices for individuals, especially in regards to reproduction.
