That particular resident has NOT taken any particular shine to Alex. However, I have long since taken a shine to that particular resident - since way before I ever joined SL.

I don't see how any of Alex's supporters could have had a promotional agenda, considering that he is the one who started the thread (and also, I believe, had no promotional agenda). But as long as some people are going to choose to say bad things about his forums here, then I'm going to choose to take the opportunity to promote them, you betcha.

Hmm, was that particular resident calling someone else a tekki-wikki then? Its called being sardonic, look it up.

Yeah? So? What's that to do with the price a pint in Pittsburgh? Just had a sudden urge to reaffirm your oath of loyality clause or something?

Yep don't see anything promotional as to his 'supporters', nope nary a sign.

Is this kinda like when you say 'them/us/we' you mean 'me'?

Anyway, again to Alex; I don't believe you were trying to drum up business you've my prior apology on that point. Good luck turning around your project Bert and mind the scorpions.

I wondered what "Bert" meant.

You were being sarcastic/sardonic? My apologies, my mind doesn't do well with sarcasm, particularly over the internet. I thought you just hadn't followed it as closely, and meant that seriously.

Yeah, so? So nothing. So I like for people to know who my friends are. Especially when one of the sling-fests is going on, even if on a minimal level. You wouldn't do the same? I don't care. It's what I do on occasion, just so new players know where I stand. And would do regarding any of my friends. Because I like my friends!

As for the promotional agenda, I explained that in the last sentence of my post above! Which you just quoted! And which was doubtless Kaia's motivation, too.

coco

P.S. I don't consider that Alex needs to have his project "turned around." Any more than I consider Cristiano's forums needing "turning around." If you don't care for them, just don't go there. There are people who do care for them, though. You really can't just make that not be the case.

I'll walk you through it slowly so as not to let the logic trip you up.

You're saying there that you didn't see how any one in thread could have a promotional agenda, i.e. promoting Alex's site.

I provided direct quotes which contradicts the above, including the very next line in the paragraph quoted where you go on to say you're happily promoting said site.

I assume what sparked this 'promotional tripe' tangent was when I said;

From: Memir Quinn
(as opposed to that of his supposed supporters whom did seem at the time of my posting to have a promotional agenda)

Nothing you've said thus far invalidates that assertion.

Hey your opinion (and only your opinion). I'm merely responding to what Alex himself had indicated. He made mention his attempts to moderate (altering some forums, title changing others), expressed regrets to the current flaming and trolling and had even gone so far as to apologize for the roasting of some residents in this very thread, which impressed me some. He went on to mention apparent alienation of other online communities posters by the poisoned atmosphere currently festering there (as evidenced by them signing up but never posting, or so said Alex).

So you don't think anything needs to be altered or changed or better moderated? Sure, and I think you've got maybe five or six disenchanted SL posters there mostly trolling and poo flinging and feeling sorry for themselves when they aren't feeling liberated about feeling sorry for themselves at large and at length.

Thanks no, I'll stick with the official SL forums not that I think I need a by your leave.

Not much to offer in my opinion until that is turned around, course you seem to find that sort of mewling, trolling, festering atmosphere very appealing. Good luck with that, hope its still around in six months, and it might be if some needed moderation comes into play.

Your millage may vary.

Thank you so much for speaking slowly, Memir, so your logic doesn't trip me up!

No, I don't think anything needs to be altered, changed, or "better moderated." The only thing I can think of is renaming one of the forums something less vulgar.

Seems you don't think much of anyone who posts there. I'd say that would be a pretty good indication that those forums are not for you!

I was also quite impressed with Alexander's posts here, and was glad to have the opportunity to speak with him, even if just through these posts. It prompted me to register at least with the site. I doubt I will participate much in it, but the least I can do is provide some support - third party sites all have a difficult task, and I recognize and empathize with the challenges he is facing. Hopefully the site will develop its own tone and voice that is not quite as shrill as it is right now. I'm not certain exactly what Alexander's vision is for the site, but based upon his demeanor here, I don't think he was going for the Springer Show.

PS - Cocoanut, I lost track of where you said this, but I hope your mom is doing well. I know you said her hospitalization wasn't serious, but I also know how stressful it can be.

There is a very big difference between promoting a site and having a 'promotional agenda', which seems to be where your difficulty lies.

If I enjoy second life, and tell my friends how much I enjoy it, I am 'promoting' it. If I run a campaign of spamming other virtual world forums and telling everybody to go to second life instead, I have a 'promotional agenda'.

I'm not aware of having any difficulty sparky.

That's nice, has little to do with what was occurring in this thread at the time of my first posting though. Said posters (not the OP) weren't just spontaneously sharing their joy of some random site out of the blue, "with their friends", in fact actively the reverse.

As sited by said links in this post here

If you're having difficulty in parsing the language in the above quotes thats your problem, but feel free to continue to play semantics. The whole promotional tripe tangent was spun off due to a apparent lack of reading comprehension and not on the part of the OP (Alex, whom I've since communicated with and was very right in being impressed with).

Congrats on playing the white knight as per usual and right on time too, maiden's honour assuaged but mind the Windmills Don, they're tricky.

Thanks, Cristiano. She is old and has health problems, so, you know, you just never know, really. I just keep trying to take things like, well, this is just more of the same old same old, but yes, it is stressful, cause you know the end will come; you just don't know when.

But today - I slept till noon! :D

coco

P.S. Not that it is coming right now - we have been here before, hospital and all. So I don't think it IS coming right now. It's just that never knowing factor.
