Huh?

As to Alex;

Nope highly doubtful he is a linden.

This thread however was a fairly transparent attempt to drum up traffic for a dieing "forum" whom has at most maybe four active posters, an whose main focus to date seems to be merely dancing about a embittered flaming bonfire complete with trolls and poo flinging a la lord of the flies where the professional victims and disenchanted (all four or five of them) can rale against the world and shake their fists emptily at the sky.

Thanks, but no thanks.

I did read the first part of the sentence as dealing with you, and then there is that neat little word OR - I did not assume both parts of the sentence applied to you. You have been very candid about feeling unduly picked on in these forums, and that part of the appeal of those forums is not being constantly under seige. I don't think the second part of the sentence was aimed at you, however - I think you are reading too much into it.

Ah - the OR. OK, I misread that. My mistake, I apologize.

And for the record

(a) in no way did Alex post here to "drum up traffic" for his forum and

(b) I certainly never thought he was a Linden.

a) How can you speak to someone else's motivations? I don't think he did either, but only he can say whether or not he did.

b) Prokofy is the one who came up with that brilliant conspiracy theory.

I have a problem with people telling me I'm doing something I'm not.

While you have every right to your opinion that the forum is dying, and your assessment of how many active posters there are, and the fact you see it as a place to "fling poo", I am losing my patience with the subtle and not so subtle suggestions that this was some stupid stunt to drum up traffic.

This was a dumb post I made because someone pissed me off suggesting that I was a secret Linden and then suggested that I needed to make a public statement of fact that I was not. Yes, that's my fault for even buying into the necessity to do that. And yes, I should have killed the signature before I made the post. And yes, I could have put this elsewhere. But I can't erase it now. It was a hasty and not completely thought out move...but it was not an attempt to draw traffic.

But I don't suppose that makes a bit of difference really. People will see it as they see it.

I'm sorry, I edited that real quick (I'm kind of in a hurry here) and out went the part that said "I believe". Which was at first at the beginning of the letterings, then i meant to put it in them.

I believe (and having followed the whole thing, I have a great deal of faith in my judgment here) that Alex was in no way trying to drum up activity for the forum, just kind of freaked out at being thought a Linden.

And I don't believe Alex is a Linden, and I trust my instincts on that, too. I realize it is Prok who thought of that POSSIBILITY, and I don't think it is true, and I don't think he thinks so either. I also don't consider Prok a conspiratory theoriest, for that matter. On anything. He thinks, and he thinks up angles. Nothing the rest of you don't do.

I know you Alexander... you are the guy to the right in the first pic.. and a composer and member of the group BWO.. this Saturday you was beaten by Carola and got second in our Eurovison song contest..

http://svt.se/svt/jsp/Crosslink.jsp?d=47539

Congrats to you!

***

This is from a blog in Sweden btw:

BWO's song "Temple of Love" was described on radio (I listened to the songs earlier that day on the radio) like a mix between Ricky Martin and ABBA's Dancing Queen. But nah. I admit I am half tone deaf but how can anyone think that!? To me it sounded more like a mix between E-type and a football/soccer supporter's chant. A nice stage performance, suger sweet singer Martin Rolinski, nasal singing voice and repetitive song. The reason they were voted directly to the final is probably a result of Alexander Bard's marketing strategy statements in the media: If Sweden wants to win in Athens they should send BWO because we are "big in Eastern Europe". And sure - since the Eastern European countries parted and got independent it's become the East Eurovision Song Contest. But they all vote like Scandinavia. For each other that is.

My issue with the whole thing is the cries of "freedom", yet all I see over there is a hotbed for the type of activity that those who complain about these forums supposedly think is wrong. Not to mention, someone who is supposedly against anonymous posters elsewhere, thinks it's a barrel 'o fun on that forum. Apparently the hypocrisy well has no bottom.

I don't see what the venue has to do with it. One's morals should be one's morals whether they're in an A & P shopping or speaking in public somewhere.

The rank hypocrisy of some of the individuals falling all over themselves for that forum is mind-blowing.

We will have to continue to agree to disagree on this point, as I think Prokofy's delivery of "angles and possibilities" are done in a classic conspiracy theory way and are often very damning - he has a way of accusing through speculation, then just saying "what, I'm just QUESTIONING". What makes them conspiracy theories are the very nature of the angles he comes up with. Anyway, I agree that the Lindens having anything to do with Alexander or that site are patently ridiculous.

Well, Nolan, I read your comment on F.I.C.'s own site, www.slatoday.com, I believe it is, and I must say, you certainly enjoyed your freedom to write what you wanted to there.

In addition to writing what you wanted to on the secondcitizen.com forums.

In fact, anyone here could come over there and write whatever they want to.

Take some well worn advice from me, for what it is worth. For the longest time I felt the need to respond to the all ridiculous and innacurate things that were said about me, and would often let it stress me out far more than any random spewing from some loser on the intarweb should. Then I realized it is just a giant clusterfuck. It's not worth even acknowledging or responding to because that is what they feed on. The theory was so blatantly ridiculous that it didn't even warrant a response, and by responding, you just open yourself up to more of the same. Again, I really feel for you, as I know exactly what you are going through. :)

Nice straw man, are you going to plant him in the garden?

What does that have to do with anything I said? I haven't said a word about my personal freedoms anywhere.

Memir,

With all due respect, I think you are being a bit hard on Alex. I understand all too well the desire to want to set the record straight when some idiot says something ridiculous about you. I imagine his post here was more out of emotion response rather than premediated calculation. I can't say your summary of the forums are innaccurate, but I do think that Alex is simply trying to give the site the breathing room to grow and take on its own personality, and unfortunately it has attracted a cut-rate troll as its primary poster.

Granted, I have a lot of empathy here even as someone who has been quite a target on that site - it is not easy to give people the freedom to say what they want and then stand back while they rip you to shreds. I do think that the more forums there are the better, even if each one only serves a certain niche. They tend to be very cyclical anyway.

I somehow don't doubt you are very familiar with this entire situation. :) And I think I needed to hear that, I really did. I was about to respond too, over there. But I can see that it isn't worth it, for the reasons you have listed. Thanks.

But on an interesting note, I'm Tekki Wiki now, whatever that is. :D

Hey Alex, you seem pretty firm about not having used this thread to promote, not that it would bother me in the least, as I stated earlier. So with that in mind, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and offer up an apology.

As for the Linden stuff. Never thought that, never would have. Some folks just can't read anyone else's opinions or sites without trying to defame them. Ignore it, it has no teeth and lives to only cause misery in others through lies and manipulation.

No apology necessary. But thank you anyway, Nolan. Your latter comments are definitely valid in this case. I just made the mistake of letting it all get to me.

Fair enough, given his own responses (as opposed to that of his supposed supporters whom did seem at the time of my posting to have a promotional agenda) and valuing your opinion Chrisiano, I'll withdraw the 'drumming up business' bit of my own comments and offer an apology to Alexander on that point.

Sorry Alexander, and sorry as well that that particular resident has taken a shine to you, although you did seem to make a concerted effort to woo him to your site. Guess the lesson there is careful what you wish for (a variant on the parable of the scorpion and the turtle). Hope you can turn your forum around Bert.
