No, wait. First, state the license, only then build or write :)
Amen.

Given that you just used Thomas Edison's catch phrase, "egads", in a sentence, there's an excellent chance that you already are a senile old fart. :D

Just because I'm feeling completely obnoxious today and I find these ongoing dramas to be like peanut M&Ms (t) (just one more, please!)...

This style of house
http://www.fachwerk-arge.de/images/willkommen.jpg
has existed in the real world for quite some time... Have any of those real life architects/ designers/builders (or their rightful heirs) given their permission to have their structures mimicked in SL? Have they received any compensation for their hard work and experience and creativity? Or, did you take (or look at) pictures of their work, futz around with the concepts and patterns in Photoshop, and call them your own?

Man, houses like that exist by the hundreds of thousands in Germany in different forms and variations since hundreds of years. It's just a style, the half timbered house. I doubt that there is any copyright envolved! The thought alone makes me laugh. :D The first architects of those houses are most likely dead more than 75 years.

It's just a style like all the house styles in the USA....like farm house, cape house, whatever house. I'm just wondering if any of the "real life architects/ designers/builders (or their rightful heirs)" have given permission to all the house owners in SL who rebuild a house style that exist in real world. Is there a copyright for "skyscrapers"?

I built a Fachwerkhaus and Biergarten for the new German sims for LL. I didn't even use textures for the fasade, I built the whole darn thing from prims, just out of my memory, no picture of a Fachwerkhaus needed. Did I and LL infringe trademark and copyright laws? Copyright for a Fachwerkhaus....I really can't stop laughing about that one, sorry!

Think of it as a painting. That's the point. She's not trying to copywrite a style of architecture --she's claiming rights to a piece of artwork.

There a fachwerk all over Neualtenburg and SL for that matter, Ulrika isn't claiming *those* are copies. She's saying that a screenshot was taken of her particular house and used to make a duplicate of that house.

I think you've misunderstood the issue here.

No, Kendra, I understood very well, and I side with Ulrika on this one. It's her work, it was ripped, it sucks! And she has all the right to be pissed about what happened.

My reply was referring to vivi's posting asking if the architects of real world Fachwerkhaeuser were ask for permissions and payed and whatever not because their "idea" or "style" or "work" was used. I'm German and the thought of copyrighted or trademarked Fachwerk just made me chuckle. :D Ulrika can copy all the Fachwerk styles she wants and use them for textures, and it would be legal too. I was defending her, not attacking her. :D

It would make me laugh too if somebody would ask you, if you asked the creators (or their heirs) of the first real world German "Fenster mit Gardinen" for permission to use the idea and style for a SL texture. :)

This thread exists to publicly expose Dianne's piracy and the abuses of some members of the N'burg government. Moving this thread would eliminate the public audience and allow them direct control over the content, as they are moderators.
