A few weeks ago, finn Jensen approached me with an excellent idea to combat the Impeach Bush sign problem.
The main contibutor to this problem is cheap prim lots. The market in these plots is currently crippled.
I am starting this thread to invite comments from the community, on how best to do this.
I will start by making a few suggestions. These are by no means carved in stone and your feedback is welcomed.
1- Land barons (or anyone for that matter) contribute a small amount of tier to the group. 2- Excess prim lots, tier trimmings etc will be donated to the group. 3- Residents in the same sim only may apply for these lots for the purpose of prims or extending adjoining borders at no cost. Applications for signs, scripts or griefing will be denied.
Discuss.

A very proactive approach.. nice change from the usual 'start threat 9,752,531 on the subject'
I hope it gets off the ground.

I notice you've been selling these small lots, Weedy - I bought one myself to round out my tier. Aren't you afraid this guy is going to get them?

I was also wondering - pardon my curiosity - if you were not going to have your small satellite stores anymore? I had an extra 32m of tier to put somewhere, so I put my houses in that land I bought of yours. I was wondering, if you were no longer going to do that with your things, if there was some reason, like they aren't worth it or something.

coco I'm keeping my satellite stores because they do well. The only reason why I dont do more is updating objects is a huge task.

From: Weedy Herbst The main contibutor to this problem is cheap prim lots. The market in these plots is currently crippled. And this is being caused by land barons who are trying to make money off of Mr. I. M. Peach. Your ideas, if implemented, may well likely cause those barons to take contrary action.

From: Daltrey Pow Attached Images File Type: bmp Snapshot_002_.bmp (1.17 MB) File Type: bmp Snapshot_004_.bmp (1.17 MB) BMP files... That's worse than any sort of signs in my opinon.

Daltry, why are you giving away land to people? That seems odd.

From: Weedy Herbst 1- Land barons (or anyone for that matter) contribute a small amount of tier to the group. Yes someone of notoriety please start such a group! Currently, I've resorted to releasing everything but 16m^2 when buying 32, 48 and 64 sized plots. I know the Impeach Bush Guy isn't smart enough to get it when it's available somewhere else than land for sale. I would much rather give it to such a group. I'll donate 2048.

I spoke to Daltrey in game and the story does indeed make sense that yes, he did give them to her, unless we hear otherwise from Weedy. coco

Isn't that what was suggested as a means of eliminating a small parcel from tier without letting it slip into the griefers hands?

You abandoned the land. I sold the land to someone else as one lot. I can't mention the name, but they own they land beside it. From Transaction History: Land Sale **** 2006-01-05 05:26:19 496 ****** ****** (Price and name edited) It's not my fault they divided it up and resold it. This has NOTHING TO DO WITH ME.

He abandoned the land. He accuses me of being Lazarus's alt and makes false postings here in the forums. He said he was quitting, yet he is still here stirring up shit. The guy is on mute.

Hey, since I won't get to SL for a while and I just found this, I guess I'll say this here. You have land next to me in Zic Zac, which you may remember. If you're going to give it up, can you try to offer it to us? We already have one of these guys off our land due to one of our ex-members abandoning some land, we really don't want another, expecially not Lazarus.

So how much did you and the neighbor make from selling this land? If it was released land, you must have picked it up for $1 per sm.

Discuss. This is a first-rate idea, Weedy, and could be very helpful to the community if people support it. I particularly like your emphasis: From: someone Residents in the same sim only... My personal experience suggests that one of the strongest incentives for neighborliness in a sim is the custom of letting neighbors know first when you intend to sell your land. It's something that really matters to people. One question -- what is meant by the land market for those small lots being crippled?

The same sim only thing didn't work very well in this case. Weedy sold it a neighbor who turned around and resold it. With Weedy selling it to him at no cost, the neighbor stood to make a bit of profit depending on what the buyer is willing to pays for these lots. The efforts put forth to keep the signs out were in vain.
