No "first land sales" available

To use the now heavily over-worked cliche', think outside the prim cube. A creative baron wouldn't need alts.

Does first land not work the way the documentation suggests? I was under the impression that if you've ever owned any land you can't buy first land. Is this incorrect? I've never tried buying a second parcel.

Just to post my observations. I'm not a newbie, having been in SL for nearly a year. But I only recently upgraded to Premium, so of course I went to look for First Land. For a while, there wasnt any, but then that island opened up, so of course I immediately went out to find a suitable plot and purchased it. However, almost immediately after, I had another resident (not going to name names, but it's probably not too difficult to figure this one out) contact me with a buy offer of L$1500. Now, although this is 3 times the amount I paid for it, I noticed that mature land for 512m/s usually goes for twice that much. After notifying the buyer that I at least wanted a realistic price for it, s/he proceeded to flame me out about how much of a moron I was. Now, maybe it was cheap for me to ask for full cost on first land, but honestly, I dont see the bad side since all land was first land at one point, and value does change. But is it really correct for people to go around and start conning all the newbies into selling their land for under the going rate? Especially when I see the buyer immediately put the plot back on sale for much more than it's worth. The average 512m/s plot I've seen goes for about L$3200 in a mature sim, so when I saw one go up for L$8000 it ticked me off.

Personally I'm all for making first land just that. Only available to first time buyers, for a period of 30 days, for L$1 m/s.

The thing that ticks me off too was, all the first time buyers who stuck it out for a while were building the beginnings of a nice community. Now, it's all shops, clubs, and annoying particle effects and for sale signs.

i am a greeter and mentor i help teach newbies ect i was helping one look at first land cuase he asked me to every time we went to a plot someone was sittign right there on it saying oops sorry just got it
then we get to one great its still for sale but oops some reason lindens got it as no entry i call a linden they fix it for us we land he goes to buy it some jerk comes up shoves and then says oops just bout it
and a linden was right there when they did it
i call that extreamly rude since we were there first and then to top it off i told them it was rude lindenjs left as soon as turned off the no entry thing but wish they would stayed
next thing this person along with all them people we been runninginto on all these other land and few we hadnt seen surround us then shot us with a gun its bull crap the biotch offered the newb the land for 4500l told him not to take it when he asked me its a rip off there will be better land else where but sl is gettign out of hand someone needs to be doing some changeing round here may as well been in a damn movie

Well there is a glut of non-first land. Just open the map, check land for sale.

This isn't clear... were these land barons? From your post, the only thing that's clear is people got there before you,

Maybe releasing some first land in one of the most expensive region was a little error too.

One of my littlle hobby as a 'realtor' is to fly in new firstland sim, and teach newbie to NOT sell their land under 2000L$.
Of course if i find very cheap land for sell i buy them. Eventually, i refund the newbie if he sold it by 'mistake'. I saw ppl selling their 1st land for 1000L$, tought it was 'very expensive' so it won't sell. And 30s after it's sold... he understand his mistake. if the 'poor' seller request it, i refund. (if the land is reclaimed in the next minutes or hours, not 2 days after ...)

I have no obligation to do that, but i do this buisness for fun, not for money.

Besides buying it, do I have to do anything to keep my "title" to it? Or can I wait until the weekend when I have time?

Robert, the only thing you have to do once you've bought land is approve the land tier within 24 hours if you have gone up in tier. This wouldn't apply to you with first land, the tier is included in your premium account. Should you buy more, you will have to approve tier before you can modify your land in any way. Congratulations! Enjoy your new home

Just letting you guys know a whole bunch of first land went up for sale today.. still a lot left as I type this..

I felt it was ironic that for "first land sales", there was a shortage while at the exact same time there was was a glut of regular land. Of course, it's due to the price difference. Still, it was an interesting little twist in the SL microcosm.

Give it a couple of days and alts will have it all snatched up. I bet all of the waterfont plots were gone almost the instant they hit the market.

I'm sorry I think maybe (please note the use of the word 'maybe') you are being too cynical. I was helping a new person build something on their first land, and there was an enormous amount of first land still available, and really nice first land at that. I was just trying to let those who posted asking about first land know it had become available, in case they had missed it in-world. I know there was at least one parcel sold to an alt, but that was the newbie I was helping's alt, and not a land baron. I imagine it will be all snatched up in a couple of days, however, mostly because there is seems to be a genuine high demand for first land. Which is why I posted, I didn't want anyone to miss out.
