Need Negative rateings

It's possible to rate people positive whcih, is a good thing. But I feel that we should be able to rate negatively as well.

I was in Night Mountain casino last night when two people came in and start shooting the place up. I'm blown clear away from casino. I look to see who the shooters were and I report them. One of the shooters was new, maybe a couple weeks old. The other however, has been in SL well over a year and I see that he owns or runs a popular club. I do NOT see SL doing anything about this person since he is makeing the Lindens money. The most I could do is give this person negative rateings for his actions, IF it were possible.

No, no, no. We just got rid of the damned things.

AR the person who shoots you.

Some people did that sort of thing to earn negative ratings, and wear them as a badge of honor. And to think, people actually paid L$75 sometimes to pin the negative ratings 'medals of honor' on the griefers.

Eamonn, if you'd like to take a trip down memory lane, search the SL Forums for "negative ratings". There's much history behind why this happened.

Positive ratings may go *poof* too in time, and there's been talk of an overhaul to the social reputation system in SL.

BTW, I understand your feelings about:

That's not how it works here. As you'll continue to live your Second Life, you'll see. :)

Darko Cellardoor, and I followed his fine lead.

Here are two example threads:

Unfairly neg rated

Or jump into the midst of this one, "I feel like the neg queen".

Wow - it was so wonderful to get rids of negative ratings that I forgot some people would be unaware that we suffered with them for so long. The negative rates didn't work because, for one reason, when a person neg rated a griefer the griefer came back with 65 bazillion friends and neg rated the innocent one.

Okay, yeah I see your points. Neg rateings aren't good. It just pisses me off knowing that reporting people does nothing. And since they know that they can get away with it they won't stop the shootings. There has got to be a way for the Lindens to script something in game where a person is automaticly banned when they shoot.

Geesh, let's just make a jail system and throw them in it for a month everytime they "kill" someone in SL.

You went to clubs and disturbed events with pushguns, disrupting people's work in the place they paid for?

Consensual doesn't count, no griefer points for you.

As much as I joke about it, I seriously couldn't be a greefer kin. Enough nastiness in the world as it is... I like to be nice. :)

It sure does do something. Read the Police Blotter every once in a while. Abuse reports -do- work, I don't know why more people don't use them - instead they either get out a bigger pushgun, or (in the past) negged them. Both of these things just egged the person on.

It's been discussed and hasn't neccessarily been panned by the Lindens.

Keyword Search

I really think that both social and business networking would be improved by a keyword search function on groups and people in SL. I'd love to join more groups but there really isn't a way to find one unless whatever it is I am searching for is in the group title. And for people it is even more impossible. And for those who don't want random ims from people they don't "know" well there could always be a a "do not list" option in their profile. I personally would like a better way of meeting people than walking around and searching each individual's profile.

I hope so.. altho i love the fact we have no neg ratings anymore i have not gotten one pos rating since they did away with the bonus system :( It was like a reward for good behavior. Although i do understand there were many who were getting positives with out earning them. Would be nice to have SOME kind of social system(with a reward for bieing a good girl) :)

Because ARs are slow in effect and abstract, while pulling out a gun and shooting someone is direct, (virtually) concrete, and immediate.

But, you're right. It just escalated until someone pulled a nuke or something, like in one of those Itchy and Scratchy cartoons with the big revolvers.
