Kick from Mature areas option

Well here's what I did. I learned which sims were M. I tend to make a choice on visiting them or not visiting them.

If it really has to bother that much, fly up as high as you can (or with the aid of a scripted device) and fly up and over to get to who knows where ever.

It's what I do anyways.

Mature sim doesn't mean mature in mind, most of the time. Use to mean the very opposite, but it's getting better minded these days.

More often than not, you'll find more problems exist in such sims than in the PG ones. I CAN'T say that for a fact though, but based on what I've seen in my short time so far in SL.

Its like the porn streets in RL. You can rally and gripe and complain all you want but they aren't going anywhere. You have a choice, go around them to avoid them or put up with the fact they're there as you pass through.

That's all it pretty much boils down to. May not like it but they're not going anywhere.

Gather a list of mature sim names, and wear an attachment that will llGetRegionName() on a timer, and push you back if llGetRegionName() matches one of the names in the list.

Man Eggy, you beat me too it. After you make it, you can stick it in a object like a Bible or a cross pendant and sell them. Then like minded people will have them too. And if you need to cross a mature area to get to choir practice you can take it off just long enough to get there. That would be so cool.

Oh please! This is just like all the people upset with "pronography" on tv or on the internet or whatever. If you don't want to see it don't go there. I have played enough to know the areas to avoid if I didn't want to see this stuff. I think Jon just like to stir up a controversy so he can be the center of attention. I have seen him in game making the same rant over and over until someone would talk with him about it. Find a new hobby Jon.

However, I'll still hold to my suggestion. It's a shame that newbies MUST get a taste of Mature content before they learn not to go exploring there. I consider that highly offensive. But I'd be happy to settle for a checkbox, defaulting to access ENABLED, if it were up to me... just so long as the option was there.

LOL

Surely you realize that you're in the 0.01% of the SL population that doesn't, at some point, go LOOKING for a mature sim to see what's there!

Just because a sim is rated mature doesnt mean that you'll find only naked avatars cursing up a storm while fornicating on the rooftops.

I chose to build in a mature sim because it had the mountain top I wanted for my castle.

As a matter of fact 90% of Rikki is people building homes and enjoying themselves much like every other sim.

I think you'll miss out on a lot of great things and people if you limit yourself to labels.

I think he would rather miss out on a lot of great things and people than accidently seeing a nipple. Matter of fact I am almost sure of it.

Uhm, that's because I'm one of the few who stick around and fight for what the others didn't bother to fight for. All my types leave as soon as they arrive and go exploring.

Enjoy your castle, but the land is already labeled, "Mature". I already said I don't ever want to stumble into "Mature" areas (or areas where porn is so much as ALLOWED), accidentally.

This sounds like a good idea to me. Before you pounce on me for this, let me point out that there are a great many adults who may wish to play Second Life, but don't wish to see nudity. Adding this option could allow a lot more people to enjoy what SL has to offer.

While I don't have a problem seeing nudity, I think others should have the option to disable the mature sims on their own SL client. Perhaps this option could be added to the SL install wizard?

The default should allow all sims to be visible. I think most users would prefer that.

You're right Jon my sim is already labeled Mature. Perhaps the reason you don't belong there isn't because of what you may see or hear but rather because you are quite immature in your thinking and actions.

You may not remember me but I was the oompa loompa greeting newbies at the welcome area your second day here....I greeted you as well. I was doing what most people in SL do....I was being nice and hoping to share with new people just how great this world is and how anything is possible.

You on the other hand were lamenting to all who would listen about a women you met the night before and how she spurned your love by going off to another sim and fornicating with another man ( which by the way was a slanderous statement because no such fornication happened). To top it off you followed this person to see what they were doing....that is called stalking my friend.

Mature doesnt mean porn, it means the ability to express oneself freely. You lack the maturity to understand this and a great many other things.

Maybe my math is bad, but if you met him his second day and he was spurned by his love on the day before does that mean he had an entire relationship in one day? That has to be some kind of record even for SL.

Jon I support your right to be prudish. You should not have to see boobies if you don't wanna. And that is what SL is about. Doing what you want. And the Lidnens give us the tools to do this. So instead of demanding they revamp the game or you leave, why don't you just take Eggy's suggestion and build yourself a device that keeps you out of mature sims. You don't even have to sell it, make it free to copy. If you fear the scripting will be too hard I can think of a number of mature sim residents willing to help you.

I read it, you will try it but still want your morals imposed on the rest of us.

I do? All I ask is that newbies be treated with an empty checkbox that they can check at their whim, so that they don't have to already know that Jon Morgan might have a script, track him down, and beg him for a script that he might not have written. It's a feature request; what does that have to do with morals?

Come on, its your morals that are causing you to ask for the change in the first place, unless its just that the sight of a breast sickens you so.

I think a more worthwhile idea would be to have a mature server.

As in other online games that seperate the "PvP" (player vs player) aspect of the game from those that don't want to play PvP. You could log on to specific servers that regulate whats allowed in the entire world.

This way the entire game could be PG for those that do not want to engage in mature porno.

I own land in both M and PG area's. I do not allow anything but PG in my shop in Leda(107,81) even though its a mature sim. And I own a casino in Kojin.

That's the thing. I don't live in a mature area cause I am a sex obsessed perv. I live in a mature area so when my script doesn't work after hour five I can say "sh*t" in my own livingroom. The mature areas of SL are not like redlight districts, people aren't doing it 24/7. Heck, I can't even tell when I am in a mature area verses a PG one without looking up. I like the freedom to be able to say what I want and change clothes without guilt. If you broke mature up into worlds people would see "normal server" "porn server" and I don't want to live in a porn server, or a hugs, love, gummy bear server either. I am somewhere in the middle and as long as the mature and pg land is mixed I can stay somewhere in the middle.

Again....why is mature automatically equated to porno?

You yourself just said you own a shop in a mature sim that you only sell PG things in. But by Jon's standards your shop shouldn't be patronized because its in a mature sim.

There is a great community here what would be good about splitting it up and who would make the decision on what would be deemed mature and have to move to the new server you suggest?

Would it be limited to "porn" or would it include bad words, skimpy outfits, possibly people who lead "alternative" lifestyles?

The diversity of the people make this place great....making seperate servers would only divide the community and censor its citizens. We have enough of that in real life....

Inevitably, this thread is getting off topic.

Soon it wont belong in the Feature Suggestions at all.

Oh yay.

Lets fragment an already small (by comparision to most, say, MMORPGs) playerbase by adding multiple servers.
