Eltee, Luskwood is great! If you had some celebration for it, I'd probably shout out a congratulations, etc. And despite your own controversies you have had to deal with, your community remains strong. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished. And if someone came into your celebration thread and started trying to downplay what you had done, I'd tell them to take a hike and make their own thread about it.

There is no reason we cannot also be proud of Neualtenburg's accomplishments. And when we want to celebrate them, and share them. Just because we are proud of what we did, does not diminish the fact that others out there have done great things as well. And no one *ever* said so. I happen to agree that there are a lot of "firsts" we have done. But those being listed is more just a way of showing what we have been able to do and what exactly we are proud of. Take the "first" out, and they remain the same.

I'm going to chalk this up to a personal beef you have with Ulrika, that has become about splitting hairs. Because quite honestly I like you to much to believe you would be so insulting and rude to an entire group of people.

see.. thats kind of what they call 'revisionist' history... obviously motorola not alexander gram bell invented the telephone, since today, everyone uses cell phones and thats 'really' what we mean

im just saying that doing it 'best' or 'loudest' is not, and should not be considered doing it first..

the wright brothers made a 'powered glider' not a passenger jet, yet they are granted the acknowledgement for inventing the aeroplane, since back *then* that is what an aeroplane was... the fact that 'popular' perception has since changed, or that later people did it 'better' does not somehow retro-actively lessen the achievement earned during those 12 seconds at kittyhawk NC

eltee, I would instead compare it to an autogyro and a helicopter. The helicopter could not have been made without many of the advances the autogyro introduced. However, they remain seperate kinds of flightcraft.

Why are the Wright Brothers granted that honor then? Surely the first flying object was invented by Oog the caveman when he realized that throwing a rock through the air would enable it to fly through the air and hit a target.

What you are in fact saying, is that you disagree with Ulrika as to what constitutes a government. If you had kept it at that level, and simply asserted that according to YOUR definition of government (which is not the accepted common definition BTW) that Luskwood was the first, then you would have come across as a participant in a discussion of government as opposed to say -- a party pooping whiner.

no, just the first one that considered being 'seen' and promoted, to be the most important aspects of the process

Really? I don't seem to remember any Neualtenburgers acting with such disdain towards Luskwood.

It reminds me of when I lived in Chicago for awhile, and people finding out I was from New York City would ask me what New Yorker's thought of Chicago. I had to be truthful and tell them most New Yorkers wouldn't even be able to find Chicago on a map.

Just sayin'

actually this has *nothing* to do with luskwood, thats a private group of friends, and has nothing to do with anything i've been talking about.

the group i have been mentioning is the lusk estates land trust, its in the same sim, but not luskwood affiliated in any way, explicitly or implicitly.

the land trust however *is* 'prior art' as it were against many of the claims that have been attributed to nberg...

im not even going to be so vain as to say the land trust was *first* either. i have no idea if it was, and i dont rightly care.

but it is 'prior' and its probably not alone.. it just didn't have a 'publicist' so obviously it never happened, historically, viz arguments given here

it just gets frustrating seeing someone boast about how great it is they did somethin first, when they just plain didn't.

they did it best, yeah
they did it the most completely, yeah
they did it biggest, yeah
loudest yeah
proudest, *yeah*

but not first

and *needing* it to be first, to have 'meaning' or importance just shows its not the *thing* that they consider praiseworthy its their part in 'inventing' it, and yeah, i do fond that kinda low, and i do not hold people like that in much esteem

What eltee doesn't realize is that we've replaced her usual pot of fresh-roasted Columbian coffee with Folger's freezedried crystals.

Let's watch.

Ah, with all due respect to the discussion, I would like to respond on a very basic level to the initial intent of the thread.

Graciously I was invited to participate in the Neualtenburg Expo, and the experience has been very positive; I would even say characterised by good faith and trust.

Which is a wonderful thing, for a humble antiques dealer whose business is only two weeks old. :)

I would attempt to make a joke about being a well-treated 'guest worker' in Neualtenburg, but I fear it would fall terribly flat... :D

Coca-Cola isn't fit for a pig-trough! Only fascists and door-to door salesmen drink Coca-Cola. Anyone who is anyone drinks coffee.

Frankly, I'm both shocked and disgusted at your choice of beverage.

Bah! It is well-known that, kabbalistically, "Coca-Cola" adds to 232, the same value as the Hebrew for "let there be light". Latinized as Fiat lux, this is of course the motto of the famed Bavarian Illuminati. Coke's colors are red and white, quite naturally symbolizing the alchemical marriage of such; Coke was "dead", as the pretender New Coke was the sole offical "Coke" from April 23, 1985 (St. George's Day, whose cross is red-on-white) to to July 11; a double, eighty-day Lent before its glorious rebirth.

Even the motto - "Always, Coca-Cola" - is a hint. Do I need to spell it out? Coca-Cola is the Elixir Vitae itself! Coffee, BAH!

Disclaimer: While these facts are all more or less true, it should be noted Aliasi is a Discordian and thus, is rarely serious.

Oh really? No, there's history here. Lots of it. "Popular" isn't always another word for "right", even if it seems that way in the end to the peanut gallery.

Yes. Really. Your battles with Ulrika are obviously personal (and not unknown to me)-- my recollection is that it has something to do with her once using your image in a forum report on gender bias in SL advertising. I seem to recall you being quite upset about the fact that she didn't recognize your avatar as having an identifiable gender.

So be it. However, when your personal battles with Ulrika begin to overlap onto the reputation of a city that I (and many others) have spent much love and energy in building, then you, Michi, are beginning to court me as an enemy.

I make a far far better friend. Think about it.

You have history with some Neualtenburgers. A handful of main-grid-era people made the migration to the private sim; by far the majority of the current population are new blood like myself.

I have had none but positive impressions of Luskwood, so I am both mystified by any ill feeling, and resolute in not returning it.

LOL Kendra! Happy anniversary to Neualtenburg and it's citizens!

Not getting into all the noise in this thread. Just sitting back, reading, rolling my eyes and sipping a good cup of coffee...French style. :D

We are very happy that the sim and group has done as well as it has for you guys, if anything i'm one'f the strongest backers of group/theme builds and its great to see them not only survive but thrive

I have a personal nitpick in regards to some'f the claims etc but that shouldn't over-shadow the fact you guys have done very well and will hopefully continue to do so for another year. I'm sorry for diggin into alot of the stuff on a public forum like this but sometimes if some things get to ya and yer jus havin the 'right' kinda day its hard not to bite.

anyway... enough outta me, its too easy to get dragged around here over stupid inconsequentials, have fun guys, and hopefully spend more time enjoying yer sim in SL and less time bouncin around here, i know i hope to heh

MT. Dew is the modern day ambrosia. The clear green neon liquid bubbles ever so gently upon the tongue instilling in the lucky imbiber a sense of both power and serenity.
