See the Giant Cube before it is too late

Death to Giant Cubes!

It was so special it made me cry. And buy a shirt.

As Lasse Hallström repeats the refrain "you've got to make comparisons" in Mitt liv som hund so too ought one in Second Life.

It could be glowing, it could be spinning, it could have particle generators. It could be glowing spinning, generate particles, and scan the sim for land for sale. But it is just a cube. A big cube, nay, even giant, but a cube nevertheless. And, despite the magnanimity of the t-shirt buyers it is likely to run out of air and food in 5 days. So just as Laika had her moment of glory followed by death by hypoxia or hyperthermia, so too will the cube pass into memory without even completing 2570 orbits around the earth.

I am therefore calling for a candlelight vigil on January 30 at sometime. Maybe, for purposes of dramatic tension, Cienna can script the giant cube to slowly sink into the earth and turn to dust as metaphor for the great cube of life. Or, perhaps, like the Lorax, to lift itself by the seat of its pants and take leave of this place.

Oh, by the way, the shirts that I am illicitly selling in the gift shop now contains a tract "The Mysteries of the Giant Cube" which I nicked from Travis Lambert.

Hmmm. I'm going to repurpose your art style by creating the Ass-Normous Sphere!
And... somehow, I'll convince Siobhan to let my host it in Stonehenge.

I suggest making it invisible (or not there at all), with the tagline that "True and Faithful Avitars will be able to see it if they believe hard enough." or something like that. Or give the Cube a Great Pumpkin rep where it appears (allegedly) to special people on special occassions. Then you can fill the museum with tales of sightings, artist's renditions, and fuzzy photographs of Cube visitation...

The vigil has been scheduled. It is short, free, and, you even get a memorial candle with a flame heretofore unseen in all of SL. The only question is whether Cienna will provide suitable pyrotechnics or whether she'll just ban us from her land (which wouldn't actually interfere as we could just hold it on top of the cube). Perhaps "Burning Cube 2005" would be a good tradition.

And thanks Travis, I kinda dig a religious movement that forthrightly promotes theft and profiteering

Bummer - I've got a time conflict with my game show. But I'll be there early serving Giant Cube Kool-Aid. It's very tasty, and the Cube promises eternal salvation to all who share in the communion.

Don't forget to name the Church of the Giant Cube as a beneficiary to all 401k's, Bank Accounts, and Insurance Policies beforehand. It's the rightous thing to do.

I love the giant cube. Its so sexy. Not only that its smooth... No cubic hairs.

I am devastated to find out that the Giant Cube will soon be gone. I had no idea that this treasure was temporary. It was my primary reason for buying land in Mocha last week. I feel deceived. Now that my eyes are open I think I now understand the mystery of the recent $150 purchase of a 254 land parcel in auction. It came to me while meditating near the hallowed GC last night: it is intended to be the site of the shrine to Our Lady of the Giant Cube. Who among us wouldn't have paid $150 for that honor had we only known?

Pfft! Can't be gone soon enough for me.

It occured to me that we might be OVER reacting to the giant cube? Sure, its great and all that. But there are other great and cool things in SL. We should see it in perspective for what it really is, not be blinded by something maybe we just don't understand?

Is there some way to put together a team that can study this more closely and report back? Myself, I just want to truely understand what it is all about. Until we can do that, we are not in a position to take positive action, we merely REACT to the cube and nobody wants that.

I was at the cube yesterday... and I got a PET CUBE! It's cool you can have a cube follow you around.
