There are some things in SL that should be on everyone's must see list. The Giant Cube is one of them. And to think that I could have missed the oppotunity to experience this if not for the Sponsored Links tab. But hurry to Mocha for it appears that there are only two days left to see it.

Now I would not call myself an achitecture critic, but I was simply awestruck by the purity, elgance, and stark lines of the Giant Cube. You may think that you have seen cubes in SL, but those are merely 0.125 cubic meters and plywood. The Giant Cube is not only Giant, but it is not simple plywood either. Indeed, words fail to do it justice so I have attached a picture. But just as there is a difference between a postcard of the Grand Canyon and experiencing it for yourself, so too does the photo of the Giant Cube pale compared to a visit. I did have to sneak past the exhibit guards as the exhibition was not yet open for the day, but art afficianados sometimes need to break the rules in order to beat the crowds.

Not since Duchamp's "Fountain" has their been a work of such clarity and vision. This is truly an SL treasure and I would like to offer the builder a permanent home for the creation after its formal display.

Perhaps best of all is the gift shop beside the Giant Cube where one can purchase Giant Cube souveniers. I got a miniature replica of a the cube in a cubic snowglobe. I'd be doing a disservice as art critic if I merely gushed over this and said "all thumbs up". So I must note that there was a distinct lack of commemorative t-shirts available which marred an otherwise splendid experience.

Well it is a limited engagement, but it ends on the 30th when the 'Sponsored Link' runs out. So yes, see it before it's too late!

We're glad you enjoyed it so much Malachi! You'll find that there is a tshirt available in the gift shop, although the box is unmarked. I will look into getting one to you as soon as I can.

I have added another commemorative t-shirt to the gift shop. Or, put another way, I'm squatter selling in your store. But.... all sales are going toward the "Save the Giant Cube Foundation".

The t-shirt shown here sells for L$5 in the gift shop. In addition to it's decorative blue piping and 100% fine pixel construction, it is copyable and modifyable. Give one to your friend, or your enemies, or Jeff Linden.

*hurries to buy t-shirt*

I have to say I, too, am in awe at the Cube.

It's crystalline mathematical perfection is like a diamond striking the mind. You may have to press "sit here" for awhile just to catch your breath, because you will be in awe.

You can purchase a small replica of the Cube in the gift shop, but of course, it's a coarse rendition of the truly-inspiring original. I have placed it on a shelf to admire, recalling the sheer grit and determination of Cienna in braving the banal and pedestrian and reaching for the shining heights of architectural and entrepreneurial ingenuity and integrity.

See the cube before its gone. Truly one of the great wonders of SL! If you don't see it, and it leaves, you will be kicking yourselves, and wondering why you didn't heed my advice. Its just plain big! :D

Noooo!
I can't believe they're taking it down! I didn't even get a chance to see the 3rd side yet!
Can't we get the Lindens to make it a permanent site? Think of the great marketing this could provide!

Does it seem to anyone else like the majority of people posting in this thread are the ones pimping their souvenirs?

So anyway, you can buy my "Visible GIANT CUBE Junior" educational toy (includes spleen, spine, and colon!) in the gift shop.

Haha, alright, well, I thought it was funny. :D

Thanks to Cienna for graciously hosting the space, and for the simple elegance that is... GIANT CUBE.

I don't normally care about people's build projects, but this one leaves me speechless. I have no words, and i sit at home with a tear in my eye at the thought. My goodness, what has SL wrought, what supreme perfection, i must go...

I'm touched by all the kind words for the GIANT CUBE. It's turned a little dream into a large reality. Also, it's a cube. <3

Its Miracle

There I stood, in awe of the GIANT CUBE for well over 10 minutes, when I felt a tingling in my fingertipss. Suddenly, the ever present throbbing pain in my wrists was gone, and I had been healed of my carpal tunney syndrome!. Free from pain! I AM HEALED! I AM HEALED! Oh thank you blessed Giant Cube sent from Almighty God!

The Giant Cube is sentient! I'm pretty sure it is self aware, because it sent me a message this morning. Its just as plain as day! It knows I'm a sucker for Prim Attack!

Nice snowglobe. :) I got a t-shirt, too. Almost makes up for missing the alien abductions last summer....

I think the amazing thing is that it's next to stone hedge, the a pyramid and a castle. Do they have a thread? No. Are they as cool? Not even close.

Thanks to all the generous purchasers of the commemorative t-shirt. So far over $L60.00 has been raised which has been sent to Cie because the "Save the Giant Cube Foundation" was torn apart by internecine warfare during their charter meeting. There are still no reports on how many shirt gifts Jeff has rejected.

I thank the generous support of the SL community in this endeavor. So far we now have enough funds to rez 6 additional child prims. Or, at current exchange rates that is nearly US$0.25 or €0.19. I am awed by the love.
