First place I landed in SL was The Edge. Jenna Fairplay basically taught me all I needed to know and gave me shedloads of stuff.

The I ran into Swaffette Firefly, a budding clothes maker, and she made me a Liverpool shirt and from then on it was plain sailing :)

So now I run my place on those same lines - we help new players as much as possible and set them on the road to.....................wherever :)

i went to Toy Lafollete's basic building class and water texturing class, as well as a few scripting classes.

Also, before there was Live Help, I would just ask a Linden if they were busy, and even if they were, they would make time to answer my question. I now realize that this was probably pretty rude, so any Lindens out there, sorry for bothering you, but thanks a lot for the help :) .

First event I went to was a L50 a minute giveaway from Antagonist Protagonist, where I experienced my first gamble away all my money (which would happen many times again).

What concerns me now is a lack of classes being offered due to higher traffic from tringo or topless av contests. I have hosted some scripting classes to give back, but I don't have a lot of time anymore.

Oh, and I also went to that car place and bought a chopper hoverboard, which was the coolest thing at the time. :D

When I started it was Char and David Linden (the old one), Lynn Lippmann, Sia Sunchaser, Viola Bach, Cousin Sinatra and George Bush who really helped me figure things out. Even though I never see them anymore, I will always be grateful for their kindness.

I've been helped by so many Residents here. I was going to make a list but I didn't want to leave anyone out. You know who you are. :)

The help I want tends to be in areas of learning how to live a better Second Life, to be nicer to other people, to learn about new things I didn't know before like how to pilot a sophisticated, realistic aircraft or historical stories dating back to '02. I've used things like Live Help a number of times, got mixed results but I understand... and the individuals who helped me as part of that team have really stood out.

It's really made a difference.

neo rebus helped me most (sorta because i was looking over his shoulder), but the person who helped him alot was loki pico. loki has to be one of my favority people because he helps people so much.

when i started i was using my "his grace" avatar and i wanted a halo. jopsy pendragon and particle library were invaluable. and it got me started on scripting.

i wish when i started scripting that i had known about the wiki (now wakka) page. (http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=HomePage) i wish there had been some classes at the time about scripting. something like "lsl for java programmers" or something.

When I first got started, I was helped by a lot of people:

Fox Frost: Gave me an arsenal I would never use, but showed me how to use it. Big help with learing the basics.
Germaine LaFollette: Offered me her infinite wisdom and patience, and even took me on tours of her local lands. Heck, she took me boating! I had never seen that kind of thing in a game before.
Bill and Fiona Boffin: Offered me pearls of wisdom and introduced me to a lot of great people. And beyond that, are really great friends.

If I didn't mention you, it's not because I forgot, but because I was limiting it to the first people I met and who made the greatest impact.

wuvme literally saved me from quiting the game. I was at the welcome area and was walking to some bench to sit and log out for good (do not ask my why I thought I needed to sit lol) when I literally ran right into wuvme.

She gave me new clothes, I think her exact words were "Girl, you gotta get out of those newbie clothes". Gave me a new skin, some new body shapes to fool around with, new hair, shoes, and even more clothes. Best of all she gave me friendship... which to this day I do not forget.

I was unsure what I wanted.. other then to meet someone and explore the land. The LL's little help session at the begining was nice but it lacks alot of the finer points I believe on needs to survive in SL. I guess I was looking for someone to just greet me and say "Welcome to SL" and give me a few good locations to explore.

The lovely ladies from the UK took me under their wings!

Siobhan taught the first building class I went to and was always helpful. Jai Nomad was (and continues to be) an inspiring builder who helped me out when I first started.

Rafin Grimm showed me a lot too. :-) Thanks, all of ya!

Nyna Slate found me struggling in the old AV Central in Natoma and showed me how to get contents out of a box! hehe...... and gave me my first pair of earrings (I wore them for a year I think).

Joan and Harald Nomad helped me a lot with my first newbie cabin in DeHaro.

Cristiano Midnight came by one day after I had moved to Shipley and helped me with my first pond.

Bacca Rhodes struggled to make me look me look classy. "Calling out the troops" she called it, I am lost cause I think!

Owen Khan helped me. He had been my mentor in a previous game and was my defacto mentor here. Which is rather odd since he is well, as most of us know, Owen.

He showed me a few things, helped me make my avie decent looking Taught me some basics about SL and making money and introduced me to a lot of people. The introductions to the people in SL turned out to be the most important part.

I really dont like people to show me things, I'd rather learn on my own, so I had no expections on assistance in SL. As a matter of fact at the time SL had the rep of offering no sort of assistance to newbies.

I came to SL at the request of friends from There. I sort of expected that I'd see them right away, and they would offer me all the help I could want. Hm. Not so much. By the time I finally got in game, though, most of them were busy playing Lineage 2! LOL

I met Mirage Zephyr and Jina Pennyfeather at a little club in Wilmot when I was flying around exploring - still in my newbie clothes! :o They were both really great to me.. showed me the ropes, and just made me feel really welcome.

And then, Jina introduced me to a friend of hers by the name of Vortex Saito. Vortex helped (and still helps) teach me to build, and little bits of scripting (still waiting on the full fledged classes, lieverd!). He built my first house on my first little piece of land, and has been right there anytime I need to know "how" since we met. It was Vortex who taught me little things like sitting on a prim when you are stuck somewhere you can't get out of. LOL I'm really thankful to him for that and many other things. :D Dunno what I would do without ya, V! ;)

In order of meeting:

Pinkdiamond Peel was a sweety and helped me get the box off my head and get the stuff out of it. Then showed me around which was a great head start.

Moonshine Herbst gave me my first job and lotsa tidbits about business, scripts and general goings on.

Heavenly Fauna for trying to improve my wardrobe. As she learned, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. She also shared SL history and good information. I also learned you need to watch who you go AFK around. :p

I appreciate the help you gave me when I needed it most. Residents like you are what make SL a great place.

This guy His Grace found me in my first 24 hours in SL. He took me on a tour to meet "all the cool people". Many of those people are still among my best friends in SL. Somebody named Khamon Fate has helped me a lot too. Without the two of them I'd probably still be stuck on a 512m lot in a mall sim! Or I would have sold my first land to Paris Parks for $700.

Wynx Whiplash is a RL friend from way back she helped me get set up, gave me money, avi's and clothes and even a place to put my art in the Extrovirual store, where I met two of the nicest, and most creative people in SL, Noramyr and Forseti. That's getting into the game as painlessly as possible!!

Next, and I tend to have a bad memory for anything except song lyrics and art, I believe I met Aemilia Flytrap in a welcome area and we became friends, she can't play much anymore as her work, as a secret agent I think, has transported her from Canada to Jamaica wow!! She helped me build my first art galleries on my land where I met Landen (now gone from the game because he is a punkrock star *rock on man!*) and a really cool bunch of people around my land (shoutouts to Jak, Alice and the coolest pilot ever Touch!), no one was or is a griefer there and while bo and lily and Jade moved on to other locations we still stay in touch aww *much luv*.

As I was working on my land I posted a query about art galleries and soon was putting my art up in some of the coolest spots I'd seen, one of the spots was from the luscious Ivie Bijou, a friend of Ameilia's and another courtosy of Mikayla Gillespie who has become a really cool friend, yea!! Mika introduced me to the awesome and lovely treebee, who is the best artist in SL I've seen yet<3.

One of the coolest people I met who has a heart of gold, another neighbor, is Shellyd, if SL went belly-up I would still talk to her as often as possible, she rocks!

Lovely elf Rhiannon Chatnoir has inspired me with her creative and poetic endevors as well as just being a fun person to hang with. I plan to collaborate with artistic projects with her in the future!!

The most recent person I've met who has changed the game for me in a wonderfull way is the lovely Sukkubus Phaeton, generous, creative, fun and a damn fine DJ, another person who I will continue the friendship with regardless of SL being there. Her friends have become almost like a family, it's a beautifull thing. *spanks dais*

I know I'm skipping things but it's hard to keep this concise so plz forgive me if I missed something or someone, I sooo appreciate all my friends here, you have all helped me soo much in my goals for SL and made my days at wurk less boring.

Cyrus Apollo, Juro Kothari, Jai Nomad, Fleabite Beach, Malana Spencer, Johnny Bunderfeld, Garth Fairlight, Pituca Chang, CrowCatcher Valen, Darko & Paris Cellardoor, Zee Feaver, and of course my Siggy Romulus... All were extremely kind, generous and very patient with a confused newbie. They all let me pester them with questions about everything under the sun, some gave me stuff to play with or practice with, land to build on, and some even offered money to get land of my own.

After a year+, these people still embody what it is I love about Second Life. The community, the generosity, and the desire to share what it is they love.

I've always been a 'self starter' - it's what I find fun about new things, working them out on my own. So a lot of my initial time in SL was spent by myself playing with things and working things out.

I'd have to say Viola Bach - first and foremost for helping me find my pants and other assorted new player help. Lynn Lippman, Nolan Nash, and Reve Monde would challenge me to build new things and gave support.
Malachi Petunia - 'the voice of reason' when I encountered my first bout of drama.
Candy Apple - selling me my first land (1$ m!)
Jai Nomad - my first neighbour and numero uno partner in crime.

Chip Midnight, IronChef Cook, Sinatra, Bozo, and Onei - although I didn't meet up with them too often, they were the people whos work inspired me to create new things, test new ideas and find my own place in the scheme of things.

Siggy.

Hmmm, as far as the beginning... the parrot helped me out quite a bit ;)

Although, I was pretty much a self learner, I seem to recall Tracey Kato / Skeedalee Skiddoo / Pete Fats / Charlie Omega / Daitenshi Kato / Carerra LeFay / Sassy Apple / Stellar Sunshine / Shebang Sunshine to name a few (sorry if i forgot any).

Jamiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie otis!

This inspires me to quote a poem which makes me think about my early days in SecondLife:

Fern Hill

Now as I was young and easy under the apple boughs
About the lilting house and happy as the grass was green,
The night above the dingle starry,
Time let me hail and climb
Golden in the heydays of his eyes,
And honoured among wagons I was prince of the apple towns
And once below a time I lordly had the trees and leaves
Trail with daisies and barley
Down the rivers of the windfall light.

And as I was green and carefree, famous among the barns
About the happy yard and singing as the farm was home,
In the sun that is young once only,
Time let me play and be
Golden in the mercy of his means,
And green and golden I was huntsman and herdsman, the calves
Sang to my horn, the foxes on the hills barked clear and cold,
And the sabbath rang slowly
In the pebbles of the holy streams.

All the sun long it was running, it was lovely, the hay
Fields high as the house, the tunes from the chimneys, it was air
And playing, lovely and watery
And fire green as grass.
And nightly under the simple stars
As I rode to sleep the owls were bearing the farm away,
All the moon long I heard, blessed among stables, the nightjars
Flying with the ricks, and the horses
Flashing into the dark.

And then to awake, and the farm, like a wanderer white
With the dew, come back, the cock on his shoulder: it was all
Shining, it was Adam and maiden,
The sky gathered again
And the sun grew round that very day.
So it must have been after the birth of the simple light
In the first, spinning place, the spellbound horses walking warm
Out of the whinnying green stable
On to the fields of praise.

And honoured among foxes and pheasants by the gay house
Under the new made clouds and happy as the heart was long,
In the sun born over and over,
I ran my heedless ways,
My wishes raced through the house high hay
And nothing I cared, at my sky blue trades, that time allows
In all his tuneful turning so few and such morning songs
Before the children green and golden
Follow him out of grace.

Nothing I cared, in the lamb white days, that time would take me
Up to the swallow thronged loft by the shadow of my hand,
In the moon that is always rising,
Nor that riding to sleep
I should hear him fly with the high fields
And wake to the farm forever fled from the childless land.
Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea.

loki pico was my knight in shining armour. he just came running when ever i had a problem. he let me cry on his virtual shoulder when i was talking of leaving second life because it was going to be so expensive to play the way i wanted. ( i know some of you play here for virtually free, but i'm a stuffaholic)

after about a year of harrassing loki with all my problems, i decided only to IM him with friendly hellos from that point on. so, thats all i do now, and he is still my knight in shining armour.

loki, thank you for always being there when i needed you, and for being a true friend here in second life.
