Joints crack or pop because the pressure change caused by flexing the joints causes the gasses dissolved in the synovial fluid to come out of solution, rapidly forming bubbles, which then subsquently collapse. *pop*

One of my roomies likes to crack his neck. Apparently each time he does it, it causes his left arm to tingle.
