I really love how this thread is turning up good names and has been 100% positive so far! Thank you all for that! So far I'm up to 22 Residents, so it may take me a little while to follow up with everyone, not to mention LL folks and anyone at SpeedTree I can catch. This topic is hugely complex and cool; I could write an article JUST on Higbee Protagonist's responses to me via email. Solid guy. I'll try to seek folks out on this as rapidly as I am able! Thanks again? Anyone we've missed so far that should be included? *almost afraid to ask that. ;) *

You can add me to the list if you want. I'm just a simple country girl who doesn't create natural landscapes. All I do is plant trees and lots of them. I just bought 8096 sm just to look at the trees and to combat the increasing ugliness of Sand. My trees on that land are currently closed to the public but come to Susieland, Vail (138,146) to see what a few determined landowners can do to combat the wasteland surrounding us.

Visit my island, Tol Galen, in the South-East corner of Dacia if you like, I try to recreate some natural surroundings and atmospheres that please me there and populate it with flora and fauna many and various :)

This is a great topic, would love to keep track... !

Hypatia is a new island sim attached to Aretias, a part of the Amazon Nation. Currently under construction it will be nature only. It has a high cliff face with mandatory waterfall and hidden caves, shoreline onto a lake, sand, grass, eventually lots of trees, live fish, a (short) river, beaches, picnic areas....

Beware the cliff though, the rock is unstable.... ;)

Be sure to post the link to the article here when you're done. I'd love to read it. :)

The concept of why we feel the need to make naturalistic habbitats in virtual landscapes intrueges me as well. I think it falls back to our primal urges and our love of nature that we feel the need to represent it in all forms wherever we go. An appreciation for the natural beauty thats all around us if you will. :)

I've made some modest texture-on-prims-at-angles flowers and bushes. They're on display in Green but you may spot them elsewhere. I made them free to copy, assuming that my neighbors (who would be most likely to see them) would make coppies of their own and display them on their property, so my landscaping would coordinate with landscaping on nearby property.
This worked for some time, when most of my neighbors were people who had just aquired their first 512 parcel of land. As the parcels were aquired in larger chunks by people with their own plans, my coppies of my plants became less common. On the other hand, I occasionally run into them all over SL- always a nice surprise.

I currently own scattered patches of Green. I've terraformed it to "match" some other parts of the Sim, where people have terriformed sharp spires of land.
